as much as I stand by the idea that the Deities appear and speak to us in a way that we need and can comprehend best, sometimes I feel as if people mistake Hermesās wit with āsilliness and goofinessā and forget that to be able to come up with a successful joke that can uplift oneās spirit, you need to be intelligent, charming, observant, confident as well as read the otherās emotions like an open book. Loving yourself, nurturing yourself and taking care of yourself, is one of the greatest offerings you can offer to the deities. They all want to see you happy, healthy and cherished.
Considering a lot of magic work involves energy, one of the first things any aspiring witch should learn to do is to ground, center (and, eventually, to shield) themselves.
The purpose of grounding and centering is to stabilize your energy, connect with the energy from the Earth, and to bring yourself to a positive state of being. This can be done before and after ritual, or anytime you are feeling like you could use a boost.
For Grounding:
To start, sit or stand with yourself firmly planted on the ground. Make sure you are breathing deeply and evenly. Imagine you are connected to the Earth, by strings, roots, whatever you want to picture connecting you. Visualize any negative energy flowing down through the connection into the Earth, where the energy becomes neutralized. Now, visualize clean, healing energy coming up through the connection and into your body. Some people picture the energy filling their whole body, others picture a glowing sphere centered in their chest, but you'll have to work out what feels right for you. Once you feel your energy is stable and you are in a positive state of being, you can stop. If you're performing a ritual, you can do this again during the ritual to draw up more energy to put into whatever your purpose for it is. After your ritual is complete, you will want to ground and center yourself again to release any excess energy that you raised. Visualize the excess energy flowing down through your connection and back into the Earth. Be careful not to put all of your energy back into the Earth, otherwise you might feel tired and drained.
For Centering:
Everything in the universe is made up of energy, including you and me. As we walk through life, we give away pieces of our energy and collect bits of othersā. If we donāt keep an eye on this exchange of energy, we can find ourselves carrying the weight of othersā negativity while missing important pieces of ourselves. Centering is the practice of bringing the energy that youāve given away back to your body, while shedding the energy youāve accumulated from everyone else. In doing so, you restore balance to your soul and are able to more effectively move through life.
With your eyes closed, take a few deep breaths. As you breathe in, you are going to imagine all of the energy that you have left behind in the world coming back to you. Picture this energy filling you up and creating a sense of fullness. On the exhale, you want to imagine that you are releasing the excess clutter of everyone else. All of the negative energy that has accumulated within you is being neutralized and sent away, leaving you feeling light and free.
For Shielding:
Shielding is the act of protecting yourself from energetic attacks or drainage. By constructing an energetic shield around you, you are effectively preventing any energy that is not for your greatest or highest good from reaching you.
I find it easiest to shield after centering, but it isnāt necessary, however, I would recommend taking a few deep breaths to relax yourself and clear your mind at the very least. Start by closing your eyes and taking a moment to build up some energy using the grounding and centering techniques you've already learned. As you breathe in, imagine that the air is filling you with positive energy. You want to repeat this until you feel completely full of positive energy.
Next you need to focus this energy. Continue taking deep breaths, but now on the exhale you want to visualize the energy youāve built up expanding out around you, spreading into a protective shield around your body.
The first few times you shield, take the time to get to know the energy. Identify as many characteristics as you can:
⢠What color is it?
⢠Is it warm? Cool?
⢠Does it move like a gas? Like a solid?
⢠Does it feel like energy, like a powder, like a liquid?
The stronger the visualization, the more effective your shield will be.
Practice shielding often, until it becomes second nature. Don't just see how quickly you can shield yourself, but also how long you can hold and maintain it. Make sure that you can lower it as well.
When youāre finished, you have to close off the connection, otherwise your energy will continue to flow through the connection. Again, the visual you use for this will vary by personal preference. You may picture a door shutting, the roots being severed, or a switch being flipped.
If you practice all three techniques daily, you can learn through trial and error what visualizations work best for you, and have the added benefit of becoming familiar with your own energy and how to manipulate it, which will make working with energy in general a little bit easier down the line.
For those reading this that are already experienced with these techniques, what do you find yourself visualizing? I'm always interested to hear from others, especially if it is a more effective method.
Hold your intention while cleansing. Stay focused and grounded
Follow up by filling the cleansed space with positive energy to avoid negative energies from coming back in
When to Cleanse
When you get a new tool
When a tool/room feels stale or off
When your tools or space come into contact with negative energy
Whenever your intuition tells you its time
Common Methods
Use the Elements Cleanse a room with water, fire, earth, or air. Soak or sprinkle with water, pass through flame or smoke, sprinkle or bury in dirt
Smoke Cleansing Use the smoke of herbs and plants to cleanse a space, item, or person. Pick herbs that correspond to your needs, light a bundle, and lead the smoke
Salt Salt will soak up all negative energies
Sun & Moonlight Let your item cleanse in the sunlight or moonlight, or open your windows to cleanse a space
Crystals Use corresponding crystals to cleanse a space or item. Carry them around to cleanse your spirit
Charging
How to Charge
Pick your target. Anything you want to fill with energy
Choose a method of charging that is appropriate for your item
Hold your intention while charging. Stay focused on transferring energy to the target item
Listen to your intuition. Youāll know when an item has been charged
When to Charge
After you cleanse a tool/item
When an item/tool doesnāt feel as potent or feels weak
When energy becomes stagnant
When you want an item to hold a certain intention/purpose
Charging Methods
Sun & Moonlight Set an object in the sun or moonlight to let it soak up that energy
Crystals Crystals that have been charged and cleansed can be used to charge other items
Elements Use the power of the elements to charge items metaphorically or literally
Visualization Picture your energy and intention flowing into your item and filling it with power
Herbs Charge an item with corresponding herbs by passing them through herb smoke, anointing with herbal oils, etc
Sound Use singing bowls, bells, or corresponding music to fill an item or space with energy
Banishing & Warding
Whatās the Difference?
Warding is⦠a gentler form of defensive magic. Itās used in a general sense. Warding is used to protect and guard from negative energies. It is used to redirect energy away from you or your space.
Banishing is⦠far more specific and direct. Itās used to get rid of a particular energy, spirit, or person. Banishing is a very strong form of defensive magic.
Warding Methods
Guardians Create a guardian to guard your home or space from negative energies. Use a small object, enchant it with your intention, and keep it in a safe, permanent place.
Crystals Corresponding crystals can be worn as jewelry to protect against negative energy. Placing crystals in a room or around your house will create a protective barrier.
Salt Sprinkle salt around your doors and windows or make protection jars.
Herbs Burn protective herbs and pass the smoke through your space or tools or sprinkle herbal oils and tinctures on yourself and your space for protective barriers.
Visualization Use your intention and energy to visualize a powerful barrier of protecting light around yourself or your space.
Banishing Methods
Use the Elements Burn a slip of paper with your target's name on it. Throw a leaf with your targetās name on it into a running river. Burn corresponding herbs and pass the smoke through your space.
Candles Anoint your candles with corresponding herbs and oils, then burn it. When the candle has burned out, the banishing is complete
Sigils Make your own banishing sigil or find one that resonates with you. Place it in the space or on the item you are banishing energy from.
Herbs & Tinctures Use herbal smoke to force energy out of a space or object. Make a spray or herbal tincture to sprinkle around your home.

HI, i hope you are ok. I feel a pull towards demons. But I see a lot of sex. I HATE sex. It's a trigger for me. Can I still work with demons? Or is it a no go. Is there a demon that can help me. I don't sense, feel, see energy and so on. I want to open my magical/psychic abilities.
Yes of course you can still work with demons if you hate sex. Itās humans who obsess over demons being sexual, not the demons themselves (pretty much every demon hates being sexualized and lusted after, though who actually enjoys it anyway?).Ā
Demons are not around to be sexual partners, they are ancient beings who are great mentors, as theyāve always been. They teach humanity through adversity, showing us challenges so we can become stronger and wiser. If you wish to practice sensing energy, I would recommend you work with Lucifer and/or Lilith, since they are two of the most powerful infernal gods and specialize in many things.Ā
But overall, remember that sensing energy will not just be granted to you, it is a process, a life-long commitment. Start by reaching out for assistance and guidance, then continue by meditating for around 20 minutes per day and doing energy-sensing exercises. One such exercise is to hold several coloured pencils in your hand and grab one without looking. With eyes still closed, try and see through your mental vision what colour it is. Keep doing this till you get better.Ā
Also, the more time you spend around spirits, the better you will feel their energy. Ask a spirit you trust to come sit next to you and to push energy into you, so you can sense it better. Also spend time focusing on your own energy, such as your core (it is located in the centre of your abdomen, right beneath the ribcage). That is where your higher self can be sensed, so meditate on that spot and connect with it. Speak to your higher self for guidance, even if you cannot yet hear a response.

A lot of people say that the term "witch" is a gender-neutral term, and I agree. It's gender-neutral in that anyone should be able to freely identify with it, regardless of someone's sex or gender. People who don't identify as women are absolutely allowed to use the term "witch," and shouldn't have any other terms forced on them if that's what they prefer.
However.
There are a lot of witches who insist that "witch" has no gendered connotation, and that there is no reason why someone who practices witchcraft should want another term. "Witch" is purely gender neutral, isn't it?
"Witch" is not gender-neutral in that it connotes a person of any gender. Think of a witch. Do you think of a man? Do you think of someone whose masculine? Because I and many others do not.
Don't take my word for it? What does the internet define a witch to be and look like?
It's feminine connotation is further emphasised by its etymology and historical use:
Old English wicce "female magician, sorceress," in later use especially "a woman supposed to have dealings with the devil or evil spirits and to be able by their cooperation to perform supernatural acts," fem[inine form] of Old English wicca "sorcerer, wizard, man who practices witchcraft or magic[."] ⦠[W]itchcraft was specifically singled out as a woman's craft[.] ⦠Witch in reference to a man survived in dialect into [the 20th century], but the fem[inine] form was so dominant by 1601 that men-witches or he-witch began to be used.
"Witch" is a term with a feminine connotation. People who do not identify as women, especially those who are transgender, do not appreciate having a term like this forced upon them. I have seen multiple posts on this site from transmasculine people that say that this term is a source of dysphoria for them, that they are expected to identify as witches if they want to find community in witchcraft. It is cruel to suggest that these people should put up with tacit misgendering because "any gender can be a witch, including men!"
That's missing the point. Yes, any gender can identify with the term "witch." People who believe that āwitchā is woman-exclusive often exclude other actual women from the term. However, just because they can identify with it, does not mean that they will. The reasons why they don't identify with the term are their own and they do not owe you an explanation for why they don't use it.
To everyone who doesn't identify as a woman fully or at all out there: you do not need to use the term "witch." If you feel a connection to the word, if it makes you happy to use it, by all means, use it. But if "witch" makes you feel dysphoric, if you cringe calling yourself it, or if you just don't like the way the word looks or sounds, you do not need to use it and you aren't any less of a serious practitioner for it.
Neutral/Masculine Terms
But that begs the question: what terms are out there that aren't "witch?" I've compiled a short list.
Wizard: Wizard is perhaps the most popular masculine alternative to witch, at least in fiction, and is the term I like since it communicates what it needs to. Wizard is derived from wise and -ard, an old suffix equivalent to modern -er. Initially it meant a philosopher or sage (someone who is wise, a wise-ard), and due to philosophy melding with magic in the Middle Ages, took on the meaning of "someone with magical power." Thanks it being a class in D&D, this may be applied to women, but this is a term mostly associated with men.
Warlock: This is another popular masculine term, almost exclusively associated with men. Warlock is derived from an Old English word meaning "traitor, oath-breaker," and initially applied to the Christian Satan. Over time, the word began to be used to refer to people connected with Satan, and from that, men who practice magic. I've only see women warlocks in D&D, where it is a player class.
Sorcerer: Compare with sorceress. Derived from Medieval Latin sortarius, meaning "fortune-teller." Due to a feminine term existing (sorceress), sorcerer is often only applied to men. Again, I have only seen women sorcerers in the context of D&D, where it is another class.
Mage: Mage is a gender-neutral term; a Google Image search returns roughly the same amount of men as it does women. Mage is derived from Latin magus, meaning "magician," which was in turn borrowed from a Persian word meaning the same thing. Magus is also used in magical communities, but I see it more applied to people in positions of power within magical organisations. Same meaning as above.
(Magical/Witchcraft) practitioner: This is the gender-neutral term I tend to prefer. This emphasises what we're doing more than what we are.
Occultist: Occultist seems to be a rarer term, and is defined as "someone who studies/practices the occult."
Magician: Another rarer term that I see with a lot of older ceremonial magic groups. Often not used to not be confused with stage-magicians, but can still be used to describe spiritual magic.
Specific paths: If you're referring to a group of people who follow a specific path connected to witchcraft, opt for the name of that path. If you're referring to Wiccans, use "Wiccans." If you're referring to Hellenics, use "Hellenics."
Specific practices: Again, if you're referring to a group of people who are doing a specific magical practice, use that practice. If you're talking about astrology, use "astrologer." If you're talking to people who worship demons, use "demonolater."
As with āwitch,ā just because a gender bias exists, does not mean that you canāt use a term. Thereās no reason to stop a woman from being a warlock if they resonate with the term, just as thereās no reason to stop a man from being a witch. But if youāre looking for alternatives with a masculine or neutral gender bias, here you go.
I welcome any additions to the list, if anyone has them.
I will divide this post into two categories; traditional and UPG. I kept the historical part pretty strict and only kept items we know were given to the gods and put everything else in UPG even if those things are very common.
Traditional
Water - Clean water makes for an easily accessible and great offering. Itās better to give something simple than nothing at all so donāt feel bad about it if you canāt afford something fancier ! See this post for more info.
Wine - Not limited to Dionysos, wine was wildly offered by the greeks. Honeyed wine is a thing too !
Olive Oil - They had plenty of olives so naturally it is something that was commonly given. Herms and statues were anointed in oil.Ā
Honey - Makes for a great libation, being seen as food of the gods.
Milk - Plain or mixed with honey.Ā
Incense - Something else that was widely offered. Frankincense (olibanum), myrrh and storax were most common, however feel free to expand on that and give different resins, woods, plants and flowers. You can even make your own blend !
Flowers - Fresh flowers make for a beautiful offering. Wreaths would be used to decorate statues and herms.Ā
Fruits (and nuts) - Very common due to being easily available. See this post for more info !
Cakes and bread - They were often offered, you can go the traditional route and try to recreate ancient greek honey cakes, or just make any type of biscuits or cake. I really like spending time making something myself and itās the occasion to share it with other people as well, as if you were having a mini-feast.Ā
Meat - Not very common nowadays, animal sacrifice was a big part of how the gods were worshiped. In the homeric hymn to Hermes, he sacrifices one of Apolloās cow to the gods, teaching humanity this tradition. Tongues of animals were especially offered to him.Ā
Devotional writingĀ and art - Ancient wrote hymns, poems and prayers to the gods. Double as Hermes is also a god of language and communication.Ā
UPG
Coins - Couldnāt find historical evidence so I put it in this category but coins are very often given by modern worshipers, as Hermes is the god of trade and merchants. You can put a little bowl and you altar and collect coin. Combo points if you get foreign coins as you get his travel aspect as well. When the bowl is full you can donate them to the local homeless or to the charity of your choice.Ā
Postcards - Due to his Messenger aspect, anything to do with the mail will fit.
Things you bring back from trips - Make for a very personal offerings, I love bringing things back from my adventures.Ā
Coffee - Due to the association with quickness and movement. Often given by modern worshipers.
Strawberries - Hermes was raised under a strawberry tree, which is not the same plant that gives us the fruit, so there seem to have been a misconception. However strawberries are widely offered by modern worshipers. See this post.Ā
Cinnamon - often associated to Him, see this post.
Pineapple - The one time He requested something to me it was pineapple so itās something I hold dear to my heart. Personal UPG although I remember seeing it on tumblr once.Ā
Gin - I remember seeing a post floating around with someone advising it as an offering. You could also try other types of alcohol.Ā Ā
Lavender - No idea where it comes from but lavender is often associated to Him. Works great burned or in a tea, or even in baking !
Foreign or exotic food - Being the god of travel, it seems fitting to me. I love trying sweet foreign recipes.Ā Ā
Feathers - Hermes is the god of bird omens, hence the association.Ā
Dices - Being the god of luck and divination with pebbles, anything to do with those things will make great offerings.Ā
Playing cardsĀ or games - Same deal than with dices.Ā
Things related to computers - Due to the connectivity and communication aspects. Bonus point if it has to do with gaming or hacking.Ā
How do you talk to Hades, Persephone and spirits? Do you use tarot?
Honestly, I've been struggling with exactly how to answer this question for a hot second now, because the way I happen to communicate is rather complicated sometimes, and I'm not sure I know how to fully explain some of it.
To start, I use both pendulum and tarot to communicate with Hades, Persephone, and the spirits I work with all the time. I have a dedicated deck and pendulum for Hades, Persephone, and the spirits, plus a deck that is used to give tarot readings for others. I have a natural talent in divination, so this is generally the easiest way for me to communicate with my Gods or any spirits I happen to be working with.
However, I also happen to be claircognizant and clairsentient, so I don't need anything to "hear" what my Gods/the spirits are trying to tell me- which is actually very helpful when it comes to the child spirits I work with.
These two clair-abilities are also a large portion of the reason why I'm so good with energy work- I'm constantly sensing and using the energy of the spaces around me, to the point I can differentiate between even the most similar of spirits, and root out tricksters easier than some of my death witch friends can.
Hades in particular refuses to answer me through tarot or pendulum unless it's something I absolutely wouldn't be able to understand using my clair-abilities, now that I have a solid name for what they are, and has transitioned into almost exclusively communicating with me through said abilities.
Instead of letting me know this or that through a tarot reading, He will either "pop" words/phrases into my head, change the energy of the room around me, or push a certain feeling/emotion onto me for a few seconds (or any number of other things).
While I like to use tarot or a pendulum to confirm what my abilities are telling me, and often use divination in tandem with said abilities, if I happen to be without any tools, I can fairly easily communicate as needed.
Hopefully that answers your question, but please, feel free to ask more if I didn't answer something fully/if it arises more questions!
I think for this Iāll just describe my experiences and then explain how it could (hopefully) be helpful. This is a weirdly complicated topic to me because my brain is weird. Thatās the best way I can think of to convey this. I have been claircognizant about this stuff for as long as I can remember, itās just that I was taught to ignore those signals. So the whole process of communicating with my deities is just⦠Remembering. Remembering to pay attention to stuff that I Just Know instead of begging for validation from others. I do tarot to help solidify what Iām being Told and to get more concrete messages through the process of physical movement, card pulling, and analysis. And then I rush to write it down so if (when) I revert back to Forgetting I have the reminder. Thereās also the concept of Signs. Things on my Tumblr dash, things on my Pinterest that go against the algorithm, animals outside, music on the radio, overhearing conversations, etc etc etc. You get the idea, hopefully. Itās all just Remembering to Know.
Another note is that I am completely Deaf when it comes to Over There. I get words or sentences only when I am here and get them through claircognizance, and those are obviously prone to misinterpretation, mishearing, muddled connection, etc. I think thatās what I want to convey, actually. Itās okay to get stuff wrong. The gods have had millennia to understand that stuff doesnāt get through clearly to us and communication styles might not match up. They understand, and that should give you a level of comfort when it comes to exploring what works right for you. Tarot. Traditional meditation. Zoning out and letting your thoughts drift to make the Brain Soup more available to messages while performing tasks. The world is your oyster, so long as you arenāt grabbing from places you shouldnāt be or actively being a dick to people who donāt deserve it in the process.
Sometimes you just have to pay attention, honestly. And thatās what I want to share in terms of how I do things. Thanks for reading, hope this helps :)

What is channeling? Thatās a good question. As many of you know, my reading format is that I channel first and then follow up with cards to see what they say. So what happens when youāre channeling? Letās talk about it.
So what exactly is channeling?
Channeling is basically going into a state where you have emptied your mind of all things that can bar truth from entering, insecurities, negative self talk, etc. With that empty space, you have room to bring in bigger downloads of spiritual information.
All of this background programming is like having a bunch of internet tabs open. All your energy is being dispersed because the thought itself attracts energy. To remember what you need to do, you take that energy away. If you can live in the present and do things, even just to complete them, thatās good. Free up your energy.
I was always worried what would fill my head if sadness and anxiety didnāt live there. Turns out itās insights, creative ideas, itās amazing. I can feel myself healing my mind and itās only strengthened my channeling. Now that a bunch of stuff isnāt draining my attention, my insights are way more clear.
What does channeling feel like?
Itās weird. Because on the one hand you are filtering information through your human personalityās mind, but you are also at a higher frequency to even receive the information, so itās like being detached from yourself. Sometimes I donāt even understand something until Iām channeling. Iām just writing what comes to mind and itās not something I knew before. It feels urgent, almost like Iām allowing the energy to drive. If they have a pressing message, I call it knocking on my head.
I can feel a download coming energetically, which is this feeling of some impending moment of importance. I know it means I need to do a reading soon, and usually I know the topic. And then it will come to mind and Iāll have to type it out right there or recite it. I take note of my thoughts a lot. Itās very useful.
But yeah it sort of feels like all of a sudden thereās this urge to write and I start writing. If my thoughts circulate a lot and keeps coming back to something, it usually means I need to jot it down. Thatās why I also record my dreams because sometimes there are very important details.
Clairaudiece: What do you hear?
So when I channel conversations or love letters, basically it comes through as if someone was sitting across from me and reciting what they want me to write for them. Basically Iām a translator. So itās hard to explain because my gifts mix, so the voice may not sound like someone elseās voice, but because I see the energy of the person itās almost like I superimpose them over the voice and itās theirs. But I see them like almost visually reciting to me. So I guess my sound and visualizing mix. Synesthesia!
Clairvoyance: What do you see?
Sometimes itās like a still image, but sometimes itās also like a scene, like I will see people laughing or moving, but usually itās just a glimmer into a moment.
Clairsentience: What do you feel?
So thatās what makes this hard to explain. All my gifts work at once so like Iām getting a visual (clairvoyance) hearing words (clairaudient) and also picking up emotions (clairsentience) all at once. Theyāre all so intertwined itās hard trying to separate it out. But I usually will feel pressing emotions, such as peace, anxiety, stress, frustration, and I feel that usually in my heart space.
It sort of feels like my crown chakra opens like a mouth, spirit pours a bunch of shit into my head and then I unscramble it and translate it into human constructs. Then I speak it or write it, so itās basically a straight shot through me, creating a circuit. Like as all this tumuli comes in, Iām just trying to take meeting notes.
Claircognizance: Aha moments!
I think having claircognizance is like having aha moments a lot. You donāt really know why you arrived at that conclusion but you did and you strongly feel like everything makes sense. Iām beginning to believe part of it is that our bodies pick up a lot of stimuli all day but most of us repress it. I think we learn to repress as young highly sensitives because we have to toughen up to feel okay, and that means sacrificing some of you ability to open up to the ability to receive those insights.
I think the brain processes this stuff still but weāve learned to detach because otherwise our empathy would be going haywire. Itās a form of boundaries. All that to say, I think some of those insights are whatās mixed with claircognizance and thatās why people are like I donāt know where that came from! Well most people donāt realize how much their body takes on daily.
I think it also comes from connecting dots, like claircognizance is a spiritually advanced way of picking up patterns and seeing invisible connecting points, sort of like jumping lilypads. You can see how people could connect and ways different moments can connect with one another in a non-linear way. Itās just a different way of looking at things.
More often called 'clairs', psychic senses parallel our physical senses. They can be a huge part of someone's life, or not so much at all. They can change how you interact with the world, or how you see it.
A common misconception about psychic senses is that they are a gift that few people have, and that you can't train yourself to develop and use them. In truth, anyone can develop psychic senses. For some, it might take longer, and others not long at all.
Clairvoyance
Clairvoyance - Clear sight
This ability can allow you to perceive energies that can't be seen with the physical eyes. It might also allow you to see past or future events.
When I say 'see', I don't mean physically see. Most people agree that clairvoyance comes through images within the mind.
~ Exercises to develop:
Visualization
I know, you hear this everywhere. But in the case of clairvoyance, this is the most helpful exercise you can do.
Start by visualizing general things and can easily identify. Maybe a piece of fruit? When that gets easy, move on to harder things, like a landscape.
When that gets easy, start to visualize things moving. A squirrel running up a tree, waves crashing against the shore, a car driving on a street.
Dream journaling
A lot of messages from your subconscious come up during your dreams. A good way of understanding that is to write them down, and read through them when you're awake.
Clairaudience
Clairaudience - Clear hearing
The ability can allow you to hear words, sounds, music, etc. within your mind, which you did not create. These are not sounds heard with your ears, but heard within your mind.
~ Exercises to develop:
Observe sounds
Take some time out of the day to just sit and listen to the sounds around you. Are the close, or far? Are the loud, or quiet? Do any sounds annoy you, or bring out different emotions? Just sit quiet and listen.
Listen to instrumental music
Listen to instrumental music, and focus on listening to only one instrument. Try to drown out all but that one instrument. Keep the volume moderate to low, not high.
Listen to lyrical music down really low
Similar to the first exercise. For this one, you will want the volume to be low, where you can just barely hear the words. Now try to understand the words in the song. It would be a good idea to write down the words as you hear them if you can, so that you can listen to the song again after at a normal volume and see what you got.
Imagine some else's voice
This can be a person you know, a character on a show or movie, anyone who isn't you. Just imagine them talking, hear their voice in your head. It will be easier to start with a person or character who's voice you know very well, and move up to someone who's voice isn't very familiar.
Clairsentience
Clairsentience - Clear feeling
There seems to be two schools of thought on this ability.
The first is that this ability allows you to feel energy, emotions, and sometimes even someone else's pain.
The second is that this ability allows you to feel the sensation of touch, when nothing is physically touching you. This is the school of thought I fall into.
~ Exercises to develop
Notice physical feelings
This is the easiest exercise on this list. Just become aware of physical feelings. How your clothes feel on your body, how that fork feels in your hand, how your body feels throughout the day, the floor under your bare feet. Notice physical sensations.
Imagine a feeling
Imagine how it would feel if you were holding an object. It might be easier to start by holding the object and seeing how it feels, and then move the object away and try to remember how it felt. See how long you can hold onto that feeling.
Clairgustance
Clairgustance - Clear taste
This ability allows you to taste things that aren't physically there. This is most commonly talked about in reference to a deceased loved on who like to cook, where a person will be able to taste a recipe they liked to make when they're around.
~ Exercises to develop
Notice how things taste while you're eating or drinking them
Just like the exercise for clairsentience, start with becoming aware of how things taste while you're physically eating or drinking them. Become aware also of how it feels, and how different foods or drinks feel different.
Imagine a taste
Imagine the taste of something. It will be easier to start with something you eat or drink often, something you really like. Alternatively, it might also be easier to start with something you find very gross, because the flavor is stronger in your mind. Imagine how it tastes, and how it feels. The flavor, the texture, can you discover why you do or don't like this taste? Hold on to this taste for as long as you can.
Clairalience
Clairalience - Clear smell
This ability allows you to smell things that aren't physically present. This, again, is most often talked about in refence to a deceased loved one. Smelling their perfume/cologne is a very common thing tied to clairalience.
~ Exercises to develop
Notice how things smell
Okay, so a lot of these start with observing. But a good way to train psychic senses is to learn how your physical senses work!
Look at how the smells you're observing make you feel.
Imagine a smell
This is going to be easiest with a scent you're very familiar with, whether good or bad. Maybe it's your shampoo, your favorite food, or something you can't stand. Imagine a scent, and hold onto it for as long as you can.
Claircognizance
Claircognizance - Clear knowing
This ability allows you to simply know things, without a reason for why you know them. This is probably the hardest to develop because it requires a lot of trust. In yourself, and the spirits around you. There is usually no explanation as to why you suddenly know the thing, it just appears.
~ Exercises to develop
Trust your intuition/gut feelings
When you get a gut feeling, an intuitive tingle, whatever you chose to call it, trust it. See where it leads you. This a trial and error process, eventually you will learn what is intuition and what isn't.
Ask the spirits you work with to assist you
If you work with any spirits, ask them to give you a piece of information for the purpose of developing this ability. For example, if you work with a deity, ask them to tell you what they would like as an offering at a random point in the day. When you get that piece of information, trust it.
