Antarctica is about to have its first ever Pride

Antarctica is set to have its first ever Pride event thanks to a group of LGBTQ+ people based in an Antarctic research center. 

Please do not forget about queer people in SWANA whose oppression should not be your joke, ex. "haha I'm illegal in so many countries!"

Provide a space for queer muslims instead of acting like queerness and faith are contradictory. Recognize islamophobia has no place in the queer community.

Do not provide a safe space for homonationalists, who often target these groups on the basis of assumed homophobia and dehumanize them as a result. Observe if there are any homonationalist tendencies within yourself.

Hi, all. I can't truly ever call any pride month a "happy" pride but may you have one nonetheless or let this be whatever kind of space and time you need it to be.

In particular, I want to take the time to spotlight and give my respects to Jonathan Joss.

It's been one year today and right at the start of pride month no less.

If you don't know, Joss is an Indigenous two-spirit man murdered one year ago. A society that supports homophobia, transphobia, and anti-Indigenous racism is designed to produce such an outcome and continues to for many others.

There's also a very ableist component given how many dismissed the ongoing violence he and his family were subjected to as just being "mentally unwell" or some equivalent. Disabled, mad, mentally unwell, etc. people don't deserve to be murdered or isolated. Period.

In particular, to any of the Indigenous queer people I'm in community with, I hope you can always feel welcome here and have space for grief today especially.

Only found out because I tried to reblog with an update from your local trans unicorn siblings!

I cannot even LINK to my old comic without every new post getting deleted.

The original post was pardoned, but the shadowban still persisted and every reblog was hidden from the dash and flagged explicit. I'm not sure if it recovered by now, or if it's always going to be at risk of banning.

So whatever staff reviewed my complaint agreed that it wasn't explicit. So thank you for that, moderator. This highlights that the problem starts with bad actors reporting anything they don't like, and that it's a tossup if your appeal is seen by a bot, a normal human, or a bigot.

I'm grateful I can still touch people and spread positivity. Many of my queer siblings, brothers, and sisters - especially trans sisters - can't say the same.

But no matter what happens, we will always have each other. Every letter in our alphabet is a pillar holding up a beautiful world that only stands if we're all in it together. The world may call you a monster, but it calls me one too. Maybe you won't hear it from the rest of them, but listen and you will hear it from me.
