I kind of stopped listening to music when I finished grad school. Because I didn’t have to spend hours on the bus & walking every day. Or have background noise for studying.

But before that I was always listening to his music D. It’s kind of music that you have to stop everything you’re doing & just fully listen and feel.

If you haven’t heard it I recommend starting with Once either the soundtrack or the movie itself.

Back in high school- when Once came out. There was a full summer where I watched Once & Pride and Prejudice over and over, every day, or fell asleep to them at night.

It’s partly the algorithm on threads, but over the past couple days hearing so many people share their stories about how he & his music was so meaningful to them.

It really makes me think about a few things - How much your passion and love of your craft shines through your work. In every one of those videos people are sharing- whether it’s in a small pub or street corner, in a giant theater you can see how he just like radiates this love of music, and poetry and creating art.

Like, that’s what it’s all about- no matter the size of your audience. Even if you’re only creating things for yourself. To be able to just create because you know it has to exist in the world in some way. To be so genuine and expressive because it needs to be expressed. & it’s really got me like re-evaluating my life as a creative along with really grieving the loss of such a gifted artist.

Anyway, give some of his music a listen.
