It was supposed to represent a specific scene of “Apocrypha” by @troskygrave, in the second chapter Henry thinking: “have I escaped? In my mind I’m still there”. But it ended up being more broadly about the first 3 chapters. I’m still screaming.

Removing all the bells and whistles of post processing this was basically an academic study in pencil (even if digital). It was very soothing to go back to my roots.

“It doesn’t smell like you anymore”

Personal stuff under the cut feel free to ignore

I was encouraged by Troskygrave to pour all my grief into Erik so that’s what I did. It’s not a great time, and drawing people in love was difficult. But people in pain? Not as much.

The grief is not 1:1, nobody died, but the person I knew might as well be dead as things stand. So once the rage dissipates the only emotional vocabulary I have left is one of loss.

It’s probably overworked as hell and I’m not really satisfied with the result (it’s inspired by a sketch by Dante Gabriel Rossetti in which the expression is incredible and absolutely elusive), but it’s what I have now.

For extra angst imagine Lifetime by Three Days Grace playing in the background.

Between them there’s still an imbalance of power, yes, Istvàn has more control, but I see it like an Earth and Moon type of relationship, Earth’s pull is stronger but the Moon still causes the tides.
