trying to explain to tumblr that the Middle Class in not their enemy
saw someone say that someone complaining about only having 7k in savings makes them contemplate âdoing something badâ
you know that 7k covers like. one hospital visit WITH insurance, right?
âpeople who make six figures shouldnât be allowed to complain ââ most people who make six figures are, these days, solidly middle class. where i live, a combined household income of $110k is *lower middle class*.
âpeople who can afford homes ââ are typically 400-600k in debt for them. also if âcan own your own homeâ is your threshold for the rich you are contemplating eating, i think you are genuinely stupid
âboohoo your investments dropped, stop complaining rich boyâ idk how to tell you this but. most of us have a retirement account. you should probably open one
Apparently some people still need to hear this so: using an 'ai checker' is still using ai. If you are feeding someone's fic to one of these checkers, you will still not be sure their fic is ai because they are not 100% accurate, but you can be 100% sure that you are using ai. For fic. Furthermore you are doing the work of an ai scraper for them. You are, personally, feeding the machine. There is no actual excuse for using an ai checker on fanfic as a hobby. YOU are the problem.
If you think a fic is ai, mute it and move on. That's it. That's all you do.

Vijay Singh with the most outrageous golf shot the masters has ever seen. Ever.
G O L F W I T H O U T L I M I T S
I can only assume this is from some amazingly realistic looking sports anime because there ainât no goddamn way that happened in real life.
Iâve definitely reblogged this before, but I just think itâs super cute because there are like âgolf mannersâ where youâre not supposed to make a huge ruckus but like EVERYONE felt it warranted cheering because HOLY SHIT THAT WAS A GREAT SHOT.
how do you not hold your club above your head and hoot like a tusken raider after a shot like that
wedding dresses are white specifically so that if the bride goes axe-crazy you can rest assured you will see the blood stains all over her and it'll be sick as fuck
I just saw the most Galaxy Brain gender take ever, from a cis man on reddit
[ID: a screenshot of a comment from reddit, with no username visible. The commend reads: This doesnât make a ton of sense to me either. Setting aside the question of whether gender/sex is assigned or observed at birth, the gender I was assigned at birth was âboy.â The gender I have now is âmanâ. Boys and men have different gender roles, and few adults identify as boys anymore. From this standpoint, every adult has a different gender than the one they had at birth. End ID]
Framing âgirlâ and âboyâ as separate genders from âwomanâ and âmanâ is such an amazing take. itâs a framework that accommodates and explains so many trans experiences. Some trans people never were their AGAB. Some feel like they were their AGAB, but that that changed (usually when puberty hits, which is when you start âbecoming a man/womanâ. The accepted societal path is that girls grow up to into women, and boys grow up into men. But some girls grow up into men, and some boys grow up into women. This guy was a boy who grew up into a man, which generally works out pretty well for people. Some boys and girls grow up into people who arenât men or women, even! Itâs like this random cis guy skipped right over transgender 101, 102, 201, etc. and stumbled directly into Transgender Nirvana.
getting older can be so amazing? you get more familiar with yourself. learn tips & tricks for troubleshooting your own brain. trial & error helps you build routines that minimize discomfort, maximize reward. your preferences/interests don't get set in stone, but you do find out which ones are going to stay with you in the long-term, and which ones are fun but transient joys to appreciate in the moment.
you learn that the world is so much more complex than you were taught, and that that's okay, and that there's an endless supply of things you can learn or watch or experience or think about if you want to. if you're lucky, you loosen up, stop putting so much pressure on yourself. if you're lucky, you learn to recognize that negative inner voice, and whack it with a baseball bat until it hushes up. if you're lucky, you learn to treat yourself gently, not because you are fragile but because you are worthy of gentleness. (i hope you are lucky.)
and some things will change. some things will get better. some things will get good. and maybe you start to recover from the dehumanizing stress of childhood/education. maybe you learn the power of your own autonomy. maybe you learn how to walk away from bad situations (which is a superpower even if you don't realize it yet). and you get to choose your own clothes. and your own food. and which relationships to pursue! and what you do with your free time. and with your life (but don't worry you get to choose that gradually). and that's crazy! and sometimes scary. and extraordinarily, indescribably precious.
bitches needed to hear this huh ⼠(you're bitches)
I realized I havenât done any Pixel Dailies this year, so when I saw the #palmtree theme today, I decided to finish my Retropolis triptych.Â
It all started with the scuba diving theme back in August 2016, and I added the coral reef during this yearâs Octobit. The palm beach scene comes from the island where SpaceX is taking into orbit and completes the set.Â
Expect these soon to be seen on Retropolis cityâs tourism page.
p.s. I never thought Iâd be using pure grey to draw either wet sand or shallow water, but I think it works quite well in this case. Just another indicator how colors are relative and next to the warm sand, the grey appears closer to blue.

I made a useful bag to put things in. It's heavy cotton twill with woven stripes in off white & navy, and I don't remember how many years ago I found it at the thrift store, but I know I wouldn't have bought it nowadays because I don't particularly like these colours. Nice to have used most of it up for a non-clothing item! I sewed it at work on the industrial, on a few days when I finished early. Some years ago I made a similarly very large bag, and I sometimes wish I had more than one, and now I do. It's just right for holding large amounts of fabric or clothing, especially if your friend has borrowed your one and only IKEA bag.
@invisible-goats replied to your post:
do you have a pattern? i love those triangles in the construction at the bottom, looks like you could stand it up if needed
@theoffkeydiva replied to your post:
May I ask, what are the dimensions? Itâs hard to tell from the photo
âIt's super simple, just some rectangles! Grocery bags, being large and not in need of precision, are one of the few things I use inches for. The main body of this particular bag was cut about 51" x 34", because that's how big the largest part of the cotton remnant was, and folded in half and the sides sewn up with flat felled seams. You can't fell down the edge all the way to the corner, but just go as far as possible. The seam allowance for the side seams was a wee bit more than half an inch I think, and the hem allowance for the top was 2".
The handles are 24" x 4" but then they need the corners cut off so the bottoms won't be too bulky when those edges are folded in to form a point. The doodle on the right is the shape the end should be once it's sewn and turned.
Those are sewn with a half inch seam allowance and then turned right sides out, pressed with the seam positioned in the middle, and topstitched on either side as well as down that middle seam just so the layers don't get deformed through use.
For the bottom corners of the bag itself you mark a straight line along the bottom between the two corners. Then you just line up the side seam with that line, and sew perpendicularly across the corner (right sides together) at a width of (on this particular bag) 8".
Then you just topstitch that corner down flat to the bottom, taking a little detour at the tip for the bit of felling you couldn't reach while doing the side seam.
On regular grocery bags I cut the body more like 47" x 21", and I sew the bottom corners a bit wider than the width of an egg carton.
(Also, no the stripey bag can't stand up, it's thick but quite soft.)

Iwan Rhys Morus follows the interplanetary safari that is John Jacob Astorâs A Journey in Other Worlds (1894), a high-voltage scientific romance in which visions of imperialism haunt a supposedly âperfectâ future: https://publicdomainreview.org/essay/colonizing-the-cosmos
I always say that the thing which sets Sargent apart as a portrait artist is that he draws/paints literally every subject - no matter their gender, social position, life vs representational drawing etc - like he is right that minute realising he's desperately in love with them. And it rules every single time.
Examples pulled just from his Wikipedia page most popular works. Absolutely devastating scenes for bisexuals for over a century
Don't forget the ALLIGATORS. He loves them too.
the thing about job searching is i see all these job postings and im like i dont wanna do any of this for any of you

Who wants to hear a DIY tiling pro tip that the experts won't tell you
Yes!
Do not drop your phone into the bucket of tile adhesive. This step is actually completely unnecessary and massively complicates the tiling process.
You say this but my uncle is a tiler and he swears by the âdrop phone in putty bucketâ technique. I think youâre just posting this for clout
Your uncle is caught up in a tradition that he was taught as an apprentice that he never questioned. Modern putty doesn't require phone, the formula has changed.
MY uncle says some customers still demand the phone putty technique because it "doesn't look right otherwise"
Drop an empty phone case in and those customers can't tell the fucking difference because there is no fucking difference.
My mum renovated houses for thirty years, she says âyouâre half right, but in some cases - particularly in houses built before 1930 - the phone does add some benefit. Could be a tablet too if youâve an old one in the garage. And anyone who says itâs got to be a particular model is just being precious about it, whatever the forums say.â
IPhones and tablets where invented in 1898, what did they do before then?
Nothing, tiles were invented in 1899.
I miss when ads were a single click and then theyâre gone. Now every ad has a minimum of three phases where you watch a video, exit the still frame of fake gameplay, and then exit the app download. That doesnât even touch on the ones that forcibly take you to another app after opening a tab in safari without you ever touching the screen.
I hate advertising. I hate that you canât do anything without companies jumping down your throat with mostly bullshit ads. I hate that billboards exist. I hate that every company unanimously decided to make their ads longer and longer. I hate that ad blockers try to charge you money and there are in app purchases to remove ads. I hate that my attention has become commodified. I hate that thereâs nothing I can do about it.
