Working on two (though one is mostly done)

One is a more complicated one where Maverick was a patient that kisses Mark and they hooked up after Mark's shift and Mark is feeling all guilty about it. This is first time with a man. Maverick also said Goose during sex. The fic is the aftermath of the event. Implied Mark crushing on Doug and Maverick crushing on Goose.

The other man's nightmare had woken him up, Pete had to pull him out of it and as usual, Tom didn't voice a word of it.

So, he makes french toast and bacon. Few know the infamous Iceman had a penchant for stealing his bacon, and he'll do so despite having some on his own plate because he's a dick. Pete won't stop him because he's been doing it since the 80s and now that he's the COMPACFLT, Pete had no chance of stopping him.

Ice is not above ordering him to hand his bacon over.

He's so intent on getting the bacon just the right amount of crispy, and listening to The Boss on the radio, that he misses the sound of footsteps. Tom's hands wrapping around his waist have him letting out a sound he'll later deny is a yelp.

"You're missing the kiss the cook apron."

Tom's teeth graze against his cheek but instead of outright biting, he just offers Pete a quick peck.

"Think I should be hearing a, 'Thanks Mav. You're so nice to me, Mav. You remember how I like my bacon, Mav.' And I'm a little offended that it's escaping you."

He has to swat Ice's hand away from the fucking frying pan because the man only allows himself impatience in the comfort of their home and as endearing as it is, Maverick isn't going to let him burn his mouth.

"If you didn't know how I take my bacon after this many years, I'd rehome you."

in aotearoa, june isn’t our pride, it’s theirs. marsha p johnson and sylvia rivera are their historical figures, not ours. the phrase that “you owe your rights to Black trans women” is true there, but here we owe our rights to (mostly) Māori historical figures. i have the freedoms i do because of the legacy of an entirely different set of people operating in an entirely different context at entirely different times.

But because of american cultural imperialism, most queer people in Aotearoa don’t even know our own queer history. Carmen Rupe, Ngahuia Te Awekotuku, the Dorian Society, Gillian Laundon, Georgina Beyer, and the Wolfenden Association are some of our queer history. We should know their names! we should know what they did for us! but because of the power of the american imperial machine, we don’t.

our national pride month should be july, the month that the Homosexual Law Reform Act passed in 1986. our two largest cities hold their pride festivals in february and march, respectively. american queer history has very little (or nothing, depending on who you ask) to do with our queer history. anecdotally, from my own queries, queer youth in aotearoa know more about american queer history than our own.

Pete Mitchell and a baby gosling were never a part of the plan.

Bradley isn't particularly careful about burrowing under his arms, he has boney knees and Tom gets an elbow to his ribs for being the closest available adult.

His own fault for not questioning the suspicious glee in Mav's voice when the man had asked him to come over, now he's wrangling a little boy who's energy is ceaseless while Carole spends a day out with friends.

For the record, the water guns were not his idea.

"Help?"

Tom just watched Bradley catch Pete in the face with a stream of water then shriek and giggle like a mad man, before Pete pointed his own water gun his way. He is absolutely not going to help, he has to stakes in this game.

"Nope, not helping."

He wraps his arms around Bradley for the boy's comfort, and to avoid a poorly thrown knee to the crotch. If it shields him from Maverick's water gun then that's purely coincidental.

Bradley's face is flushed, he's sweaty and he has grass stains across his knees. The little boy looks thrilled at their temporary, fortuitous alliance.

Pete approaches like Arnie in Terminator, gun raised and unfaltering. Tom realises his mistake in harbouring a tiny fugitive, he's about to be caught in the blast zone and nothing will save him.

"I expect first pick at the juice boxes, baby goose."

Pete aims for his face deliberately because he's an asshole, Tom only briefly think about killing him. He'd complain more if Pete's t-shirt wasn't soaked through and clinging to his skin.

"Apple?"

His hair is dripping when he peers down at Bradley, the kid has his water gun tucked under one arm and his other hand is curled in Tom's shirt.

He shakes his hair like a dog just to hear Bradley screech as the water hits him, and he only feels a little bit bad about it.

"Yeah, kid. I'll take the apple."
