Non-binary Presentation Terms
Although words like butch, femme, masc, and fem have been applied to nonbinary folk since their inception, they donât always meet the needs of non-binary people in comfortably describing the way we look.Â
So here are a new additional set of options! Weâve considered two different âaxesâ here â one that relates most closely to the mascâfem scale, and one that considers âeffortâ, or a level of⌠drama or ostentation in a look. They can be combined as one pleases or used individually!Â
Additionally, please apply them at will to yourself based on your own ideas about what it means to dress femininely or dramatically or androgynously etc. These words are not to be held hostage to cissexism or gender roles. These words also describe presentations that are inherently not binary â the only reason weâre using words like âmasculineâ and âfeminineâ to describe them at all is for ease of communication. They can and should describe particular looks, including those that people are inclined to gender, without actually gendering them.Â
Note: These are not coined with the intention of being gender identities. They have nothing inherently to do with gender identity. You can be a demigirl stag, etc. (That said, if someone wants to use them as a gender because you feel itâs tied closely to your presentation, weâre certainly not stopping you.)Â
Here they are!
Stag: A âmascâ, âbutchâ or âtomcatâ equivalent, describing a presentation one considers to be associated with ideas about masculinity, or a presentation others might consider masculine.Â
Fox: Describing an androgynous, fluid, or combined presentation; can be applied to any presentation a person feels doesnât resemble the other sides of the spectrum. Â
Swan: AÂ âfemme/femâ or âdoeâ equivalent, describing a presentation one considers to be associated with ideas about femininity, or a presentation others might consider feminine.Â
Sparrow: A casual, minimalist, muted or low-effort presentation. For example, for those folks who just roll through their closet and go.Â
Crow: For presentations that are in-between, combined, or fluid along a scale of effort/ostentation.Â
Peacock: For presentations that are high effort. Glam, dramatic, flashy, flamboyant, attention-drawing, etc. Dressed to the nines, so to speak!Â

I /love/ this⌠especially for those herbal teas that donât taste the greatest.. and lets be honest, a lot of medicinal herbal teas taste pretty unpleasant. This is my favourite way to drink herbal teas and actually enjoy them. Some fun additions: - Ginger for warming and soothing the throat (great without the milk or with) - (without the milk) Lemon for brightening and toning your liver/other organs - Peppermint for soothing a tummy or for after a meal - Chamomile for soothing the mind and for restful sleep - A teeny pinch of cayenne for when youâre sick and you need that cold to gtfo. Also great for combatting the chills, to aid circulation and to get those sinuses cleared. YUM
Just tried this and itâs fantastic, very soothing đâ¨

if anyone would like to learn a couple tricks for carving pumpkins:
- dont cut out the top to scoop out the seeds, cut out the bottom instead. this way the pumpkin doesnt cave in on itself and lasts longer - sprinkle some cinnamon inside at the top after carving. this way when you put the candle in it smells like pumpkin pie

ok so thereâs a game me and my friends play called âdonât get me startedâ and basically someone gives another person a random topic and they have to go on an angry rant about it and itâs the best thing thatâs ever happened to us at parties and car rides so I highly recommend playing sometimes with your friends

I was on the bus thinking about Harry Potter tonight and I remembered the part where the Dementors all show up at the Quidditch game, and I remembered how they were all looking up at Harry, and I wondered why they would all be staring at him, and then I realized that itâs because he has two souls in him.
On this note, wouldnât that also be a reason why Harry would have had a more negative reaction than his friends (even Ginny)? He was hearing his motherâs voice as she was protecting him, which in itself was his worst memory. but the Dementors were also forcing the piece of Voldemort to relive its worst memory as well⌠The memory of being ripped apart by the curse that backfired. No wonder Harry passed out so often.
I literally never thought about that.

Oh FUCKING HELL, you just made me realize that it wasnât Harryâs memory that was his father telling Lily to take Harry and run, and it wasnât Harryâs memory of Lily screaming.
Here I was, just eating a cup of applesauce under the 14-year-long assumption that the reason a small infant was able to remember something was because this was a fictional world of magic, but no, now this entirely reasonable and somewhat less terrifying bubble has burst and Iâm never going to recapture that innocence.Â
Iâm going to fucking bed.
Actually those could very well be Harryâs memories, as toddlers tend to remember traumatic experiences long term even though their long term memory storage areas arenât fully developed. So that was easily Harryâs most traumatic memory, so of course heâs gonna remember it. (There have been studies on this look it up if you want. Iâm on mobile and Iâm a lazy piece of shit.)

I think that, at one point, we were on the right track. Dismantling binaries, fucking gender, fighting gendered oppression, and opening up new worlds of possibility. Honoring the reality that gender is a unique experience for every person, that gender is more personal and complicated than those arbitrary rules and roles weâd been subjected to our entire lives could ever command.
Which is what makes the reality of the trans community today even more disappointing. Instead of allowing space for individuality, autonomy, and personal freedom, weâre policing those who donât neatly fit into a list of symptoms, a narrow narrative of âacceptableâ and ârespectableâ. Instead of making room for those who have complex relationships with gender, weâve begun constructing and enforcing arbitrary binaries, rules, and roles of our own.
I still believe we have potential. I believe we can do better. I hope. I know. We have more to offer than this.
