Reasons a character may want to avoid crying around others that isnt just pride and not wanting to be seen as weak etc
-Its hard to talk when crying, and can make it worse to try. Are the other characters around likely to try and verbally talk to someone crying?
-Its annoying to cry, especially for easy criers who dont feel upset enough to warrant it. They may feel frustrated. Especially when mixed with the above point on not wanting to talk and make it worse. They may want to leave to be alone until it goes away completely- which can take hours
-Whats the current situation? Does the character feel theyd be ruining a hangout or fun time? Do they feel theyd be insulted for it? Or told theyre faking? Do they simply just want to avoid attention?
-I cannot stress enough how much a heavy crier who feels they have "no reason" to be crying since they feel fine, mignt really just want to be away from anyone so they can ride it out without having to talk and make it worse. This is the same case when they do feel they have a reason. Crying is deeply frustrating and annoying. And you cant do anything while doing it.
-Also consider if the character finds attention when theyre upset weird. Something they may want to avoid even more. As well, consider if they're around strangers or people they know
-Backstory and past experiences can shape alot of behavior when crying. Someone who's been called a fake crier and people attempt to argue with while theyre crying, may not have the same reactions as someone who is used to being comforted and seeking comfort when crying
-How much are their eyes watering? Is it stinging? Do they have means to wipe the tears away efficiently? Seeking out a tissue to dry the eyes and blow the nose is usually wanted.
-Crying is annoying and frustrating. Draining, demanding, and makes getting anything done impossible. Being around others can make it worse, being in public can make it worse. An area alone can provide comfort and help it ride out faster. Kinda like being overstimulated or something or whatever

Maryland will become the first US state to ban surveillance pricing in retail stores, after passing Protection from Predatory Pricing Act.
Jesus fucking christ that this exists in the first place
I WAS FUCKING WONDERING WHAT THOSE DIGITAL PRICE TAGS WERE ABOUT SUDDENLY i had hoped they were so the workers didn't have to finagle those little papers into the slider part anymore 😭
Hi, yes, that is the OFFICIAL excuse made to me by the guy replacing the paper tags with digital ones at my local Walmart, but the end goal is to remove the numbers off the shelf entirely, replacing them with QR codes that you have to scan with the app…. Which requires your login information….. and also stores your card information so even if you didn’t use your Walmart account at the physical checkout, if you used a card they recognize, they assign that purchase to your Walmart account purchase history.
I explained very clearly to the manager my issue with the meat section not having the price tags listed, and they claimed it was only going to be for the meat, since meat is by weight, and the price of each item is printed on the packs of each item.
Sure. That’s how they get their foot in the door. Fast forward not even two weeks, and here we are:
Bar codes. No prices, no item descriptions. No price stickers on the individual items. Heck, not even the name of the item that is SUPPOSED to be there.
No. The only way to see the price is to scan it on your phone app, which is also recording what you looked at recently, as a way of gauging what you might be looking for in the future.
So here’s what we’re gonna do gang:
Every time you go into a store that has implemented these price-less tags:
Take 1-3 items up to the cash register. Ask the cashier for the price, or hit the price check item on the self checkout, which will likely call over the attendant.
Express that you didn’t actually want it, you just couldn’t see on the shelf how much it was.
POLITELY, AND WITH A THANK YOU FOR THE PRICE CONFIRMATION, Give the items to the cashier or attendant to put back.
When they inevitably try to push the app, politely decline. If pressed for why not, say you don’t want to have to carry your phone in-hand the whole time you are shopping in order to see how much things cost. (Not having cell service or data to use the app is NOT a valid excuse, as stores already often have complimentary WiFi AND more stores will provide WiFi rather than give up on this push for surveillance pricing)
If it’s a shelf-stable item, the cashier will have to set it aside, taking up room in their limited operating space, and eventually pass it off to someone to put in a holding area to put back later. If it’s a fridge/freezer item, it might have to get tossed due to food product sale regulations.
In either case, you are making it a pain in the ass for them to have these digital bar codes. Tie up the checkouts. Give the employees more busywork that the company has to pay them to do. Hurt their bottom line having to toss the pint of ice cream you carried around in your cart for 20 minutes before giving it back to the cashier.
Yes, call your reps. Yes, push for more legislation like this in more places. But also take an extra minute out of your shopping trip to MAKE IT HURT for companies to pull this shit.
I've seen some people in the notes express (very fair) concern that this is only going to inconvenience already under-paid laborers, and not have any impact on corporate. While I can't speak for every company or every store, I do work in a grocery store and I can tell you this is precisely the kind of thing that would have an impact, especially if people are doing it en masse. Stores absolutely track their shrink numbers, and they do draw distinctions between what gets stolen, damaged, or wasted for other reasons. If people are making it clear that the reason they're bringing things to the cashier is that the prices are not adequately represented on the displays, and rather than improving business it's wasting product, slowing down transactions, and causing confusion and mistrust in customers, that is a language that shareholders speak.
I worked in retail for years. If this had happened while I was working retail, I would have been delighted and felt great solidarity with anyone who was wasting my employer's time and money and giving me busy work as an act of protest. In point of fact every moment the employee spends carting items back to the shelves is a moment not spent standing at a register.
Here is Graham gloating about "killing all the right people." Just in case you see anyone try to do the whole "we should have decency for the dead" nonsense. via goldstein.bsky.social

Disney is doing crazy things in the japanese mobile game sphere rn
you may be familiar with disney twisted wonderland, the gacha game in which various disney villains are used as direct inspiration for handsome anime boys. well that game was so successful that disney is trying to do it again but this time they're just animeboyifying whatever
here's mickey, goofy, donald, and chip & dale. yeah they turned mickey & friends into anime boys. they're an idol unit or something. they're technically not anime boy versions of the source characters, they have different names. mickey's guy is "Neo Michel". not michael, michel, like he's french. chip & dale are "Ruska Moncrief" and "Ranka Monk", they have different last names, they're not brothers anymore so that they can be yaoibait instead, anyways this post isn't actually about these guys I'm just setting the stage for the actual humanizations I wanted to show you
They also did monsters inc. And. Well it's obvious from the designs who mike and sully are. but you will also notice. the blonde one on the left. with glasses. monsters inc is kind of famously about just the two guys so they didn't really have a lot of other non-villain characters to take anime boys inspiration from, I guess, so, well,
Yeah it's her. they made an anime boy version of the mean receptionist slug. her name is roz btw, as all of boygachagame twitter has become extremely aware of in the past 3 days as we speculated prior to the release of the full image who tf the third guy was. the anime boy's name is "noah slugger". at this point no parody of the types of things gacha games will make gijinkas of will ever be able to live up to what disney is officially spending their own real money on designing
You don’t have to admit you have an open wound if you close the wound before anyone sees it, yknow? but the fucking problem is people do nothing but talk about how much they hate open wounds around you and it’s like buddy I’m trying to close the thing before you see it. and then they get out the wound salt “just in case” like okay great. now there’s wound salt in my open wound that you keep saying you hate and don’t want to see. give me some fucking breathing room to close the wound then damn……… but they already know about the wound because you’ve been trying to close it for years. they weren’t speaking in hypotheticals. they know. and yuuuup there’s more wound salt
When you thought it would be easy peasy lemon squeezy but it turns out to be difficult difficult lemon difficult.
Wait that’s actually really good, gonna pop this out of the tags
Not the citrus scale I was looking for but I like it

all the rights that come with marriage you should be able to have without marriage btw. you should be able to designate a person who can visit you in the hospital regardless of your relationship to that person.
You can nominate people.
The version requiring the least amount of paperwork is contacting healthcare service to update your in case of emergency contacts. That will get them in the door.
If you have people you wish to be your legal next of kin, find local government and local health service info for
Powers of Attorney
Medical decision maker/shared decision maker
Advanced care directive/POLST
Documented in case of emergency contacts on medical records
Living will
Will
Follow advice from local resources about how and where to file these documents. Ensure copies of anything relating to legal next of kin, nominated shared decision makers, care directives, etc. are filed with your primary care physician, local health services, your health insurance, and make sure the people nominated have certified copies. If there's multiple people, email them a copy of the documents together and include each others' contact details so they can coordinate getting a physical copy if needed in an emergency and they're closest/easiest.
Even if you have a great legal next of kin by birth/marriage, it is pertinent to nominate and document if there's people in particular that you trust. If your parents and siblings are likely to bicker, who do you trust most to make decisions for you? If you're in a car crash with your first person and they also can't advocate for you, who's next?
Local legal aid services are another resource for making these documents binding.
For fuck's sake, talk to the people you nominate. Discuss with them your wishes around what to do in worst case scenarios. Document them and review those documents yearly and update when necessary.
If you're wanting to visit someone close to you, the answer to are you immediate family? is yes for visiting. Life pro tip: a cousin can be amongst the closest living relatives while also not necessarily being a legal next of kin or decision maker. Be mindful of reasons why visiting might be strictly limited, but if you're someone's closest inner circle, then yeah, you know how to answer that question; you're family. Be careful about legal next of kin shit when it comes to decision making, tho.
The specifics of all this can vary wildly locally. Your closest legal aid website will talk you through the steps of the processes you wish to pursue.
