like... i love summoner for a lot of gross personal reasons but you could argue the hacker ethic is strong with this one for sure. there's an awareness of the world being made of patterns, and everything summoner is is pattern manipulation. even ruin and bio and miasma and all that is just that.
there's a possibility that they're aware they're in a bigger story, and they cut out, copy, and paste giant monsters in whatever pages they see fit. aetheric manipulation through writing and coded language, and the understanding that (e)iconography holds weight and power. that it's all just a facet or shard(ha) of a more central, primal force.
