I’m new to posting art online, how do you suggest making a living out of it? Like I know there are commissions and going to conventions but anything besides that?
ok to answer this properly since im not one to refuse someone an answer or help For freelance besides commissions and conventions theres also doing an online shop, but besides that theres not much else thats super reliable
there is also industry work or contracted work however if youre new to just posting your art or you've only done it on a hobby basis your chances for that are unfortunately near zero, you have to do a lot of free or underpaid work prior to getting a good job cuz so u can say you have experience theyre looking for, and all the cool jobs are already kind of taken
freelance is also not the most stable form of work because its very heavily influenced by what people want to buy what events are nearby or politics even (see the whole tarrifs situation, most aritsts i know had to stop shipping to the usa even tho there is a Huge buyer base there) , there are definietly people who can make a living out of doing commissions and conventions and online shop, its also my main source of income, but its so expensive to get into if you dont already have some sort of income even from a minwage job. and you might not see the money u invested returned 😔
sorry if its a downer of a response but you have to be realistic when you want to get into a field that offers a luxury service like commissions or selfmade merchandise, if you have other options just get a normal job before diving into it

will you attend next mondocon (sunday is election day ik but at least on saturday?)
i will hopefully be attending as a guest only but not as a vendor! thankfully i live in budapest so i can just go vote in the morning before the convention would even open . i was supposed to have surgery on the 14th so i opted out of vending at this time buuuuuut it got moved to later in the month so im just taking a bit of a con hiatus (only till may tho, if i get into fantasyexpo :p)
i say hopefully cuz i still dont have my ticket 😭 ill mostly be out for a few hours to talk with friends and to help one of the tablemates to pack and take some stuff of her hand
