Ep. 3 was a psychological horror and one of the aspects of it was watching Rhaenyra sowing the seeds of her undoing:
Showing mercy to her ex small council after they betrayed her
Not taking her new small council in hand from the first
Making enemies of the King's Landing upper class
Setting a precedent she can't keep up by feeding the poor and presenting herself as their champion
Giving her spy mistress the chance to install a staff who will answer to her first and foremost
Pissing off her Hand/navy admiral/one of her biggest allies/one of the proudest and most influential lords in the realm
Not kissing the pope's high septon's ring/committing idolatry in front of the archbishop of King's Landing/reminding the Faith that the Targaryens are a family of blaspheming incestuous aliens and the only reason they ever tolerated their unholy reign was because they had sentient nukes pointed at them
Continuing to take the dragonriders (i.e. the people who control the sentient nukes) for granted
Looking to her father (the guy who caused this war) as an example
Showing mercy to the main enemy combatants, Ormund Hightower, Daeron and the Green army
Brushing Helaena off instead of trying to earnestly engage with her and her needs and the contributions she can give (to be fair this is a mistake pretty much everyone makes)
Being hopelessly in love with Alicent Hightower Showing favour to the Hightower captives
There's probably more I missed. And the sad irony is that some of these decisions (e.g. being merciful, etc) were a good thing to do but not the right thing for her in her position.

You know it. You're no fool and yet you choose not to see it.

Aegon Targaryen in 2.01 "A Son for a Son" and Rhaenyra Targaryen in 3.03 "Rhaenyra Triumphant"
There's an intentional parallel between this scene and Aegon sitting the throne in episode one of season two where they have a very similar first experience dealing with their public. They both want to provide and are being counseled by their Hand at the foot of the throne that, well you can't really do that right now.
unfortunately for everyone... they inherited their father's brain cells
The OBSESSION with identity is so crazy like the view that when you do something it immediately becomes part of your identity and all the parts of you have to click together to become “person who wakes up early” or “person who reads” no you can literally just do something without restructuring your whole performance of personhood around it. I don’t know what to tell you except that you will never be able to have an entirely unfractured view of yourself or that you will be able to rationalize all the complex parts of yourself into the phrase “person who x” like you should just be doing things without performing them. Or aestheticizing them. Just try different things on and keep what works for you. Otherwise you will never learn and grow!
one thing that is so funny to me about the fake daeron platinum silver ash blonde dye job is that the show just spent like 4 episodes last season showing us repeatedly how many silver-haired targaryen bastards are literally just laying around in the streets and at the pub. like i guess the issue is the frequency of targaryen bastards is going to be higher in kings landing than it would be in oldtown but i think its actually more realistic that a few targaryens visited a brothel in oldtown one time 15ish years ago than it is for ormund to have gone to the citadel's best cosmetology school
i think i love tragedy as a genre because narratively, human life is a tragedy. and i do not mean human life is inherently tragic, or bad, or sad, or meaningless. not in the slightest. but that our lifetimes fit the genre conventions of tragedy in the classical sense because the end is written from the very beginning; we die. there is literally no other option. we are as powerless against death as oedipus was against killing his father and as phaedra was against falling in love with hippolytus. and we spend every day knowing this. and so our lives are, like tragedies, about the series of choices we make with the knowledge of an inevitable end written in stone always waiting for us in the finale, and how we choose to arrive there

obviously im biased but modernly hotd and cyberpunk 2077 are the best examples of this. the dragons are all going to die. rhaenyra is going to die. it cannot be stopped. we know this. it doesnt matter. we want to know how it gets there. V is going to die. it cannot be stopped. we know this. it doesn't matter. we want to know how they get there. you are going to die. it cannot be stopped. you know this. it doesnt matter. what matters is how you get there.

That's how you show real solidarity!
"After they overheard that ICE was at the courthouse to arrest someone, they improperly accessed court databases to determine who was not born in the United States," a DOJ detention filing says. "They then snuck every suspected illegal alien who was at the courthouse out a back door, where ICE, who was waiting in the parking lot for their target to leave the building, could not see them."

Stealing this from twitter but I liked the concept: put in the tags where were your 8 great-grandparents from (given modern borders) ?
The first photo is from 1956. It shows a Black woman watching members of the Ku Klux Klan (a terrorist, racist, far-right organization focused on white supremacy) walking along a sidewalk in Montgomery, Alabama (USA). I couldn't find the photo's author, but most sources state that it was taken in 1956.
The second photo shows members of the Patriot Front group (a white supremacist and nationalist group, formed in 2017, that openly advocates what they call "American Fascism") traveling on the subway during the 250th anniversary of the U.S. independence in Washington D.C., while a Black woman watches them. The photo is by photographer Cheney Orr, taken on July 4, 2026, 70 years after the first photo.
