What you do in private, shows in public. Reading shows in a conversation. Your diet shows in energy. Your discipline shows in confidence. Your focus shows in your results. You are what you cultivate when no one is watching. Prioritize your time & focus on discipline/consistency.
anyways i love headcanons where percy is just. an absolute New York stereotypical skater kid emphasis on stereotypical. like yes he spent most of his time at private boarding schools and yes he was only in New York in the summer and yes he's a mama's boy so he would never (intentionally) commit any type of crime but also. he knows how to pickpocket because his neighbor taught him when he was eight. the local police chief knows him personally even though he's never actually been jailed for anything because "why are you always on the scene when something happens?". he figured out how to pick locks on WikiHow when he was 11 so that if Gabe locked him out and forgot to let him back in he could do it himself. when he said in book 1 that he sold 'candy' to rich kids at his private school for cash, what he really meant was that he picked random plants in the schoolyard and told people they were weed and got money for it until someone realized the weirdo from dorm 1 was scamming everyone with dandelions,
he's a legend at the skatepark because he has zero self preservation and so on a given day you can see him doing the most insane death-defying stunts ever and all the local parents are scared he's going to crack his head on the concrete someday and give their kids ptsd. piper "annabeth you didn't tell me he's a skater kid ;-;" mclean absolutely teases him for all the above 24/7, send tweet
you don’t realize how important lunch is until you’re wandering around thinking about how unloveable and untalented and uniquely cursed you are and then it’s 4pm and you finally eat lunch and you go Oh. oh right.
the thing about dennis/amy thats interesting to me is that it reminds me of s1 langdon/mel in a specific way where it’s not that the men don’t like the women in these dynamics (they do! a lot!) but what they like more is the way these women make them feel as they validate certain aspects of their character that get diminished elsewhere. with langdon its clearly to do with his insecurity as a doctor as mel looks to him as a mentor and makes him realise he is more than capable and worthy of doing this job. but with whitaker it’s more so to do with the emasculation he faces by his peers within the pitt (expanded on here); when he’s with amy he is fulfilling all of the societal ‘male’ roles of husband/father/breadwinner and even the physical labour aspect of his being a farmhand. amy allows him to feel masculine without him having to ask; note the way she gets out of the drivers seat into the passenger seat without question allowing whitaker to take control in a way the head of the household typical would. this isn’t his car and this isn’t his wife or kid or pond. he knows this. but he suppresses any doubts and deflects any criticisms because the way it makes him feel about himself is greater than any moral predicament he’s aware of. the reason he comes across so confident this season is because of amy, she’s the one feeding that confidence outside the hospital because he’s not getting any of it INSIDE the hospital, even when it’s from people who care about him. with santos he’s the younger brother. with robby he’s the inferior protege. with javadi he’s ‘one of the girlies’. with langdon he’s the inept ‘little buddy’. but with amy he’s the labourer. he’s the protector. he’s the father. he’s the husband. he’s the MAN. and that is why he can’t stay away.

sometimes i have a dream that reveals such a humiliating desire i have that i genuinely lose a bit of respect for myself
I don't know if this is controversial but I think the characterization of movie!Percy could be what book Percy would have become if he wasn't introduced to the demigod world at 12.
And to be clear i'm not saying that the movie was right to age him up, i'm not part of the crowd that glaze the movies just because the show also sucks (albeit in different ways). It's a thinking exercise, an au where things doesn't happen until Percy is 16.
That boy had anger issues and suicidal thoughts as a preteen, and I don't think things would have gotten better past that point. 12yo Percy was still trying on his classes, paying attention when a teacher actually made a effort to make the class interesting. Four more years of being bullied by his peers and dismissed by his teachers and he would probably stop trying and use earphones on classes as well.
12yo Percy was still only thinking his insults to Gabe, but couldn't actually say or do anything about him. Four more years and Gabe would probably be worse as Percy grew up, and he would definitely clock the abuse that Sally went through and eventually call him a bald headed freak to his face, probably escalating to a physical fight between them.
Four more years of thinking he's going insane by seeing creatures that aren't supposed to exist and feeling lonely as hell I totally see him just fleeing to the bottom of a pool to be alone and in peace, or maybe staying out late in odd jobs, skate parks, anything to avoid going home.
12yo Percy still wanted to impress his dad, earn his respect and got both a little sad and proud after his conversation with Poseidon at the end of TLT. Four more years of neglect and I see him being unimpressed and dissmissive of Poseidon and the supposed rules the gods have to follow. That could've made him so much more tempted to join Luke too. Except that Luke still fumbles and the titans are still worse, but being on the gods's side would be a struggle.
Regarding Annabeth he would probably be less annoyed by her know-it-all bossy demeanor and more determined to impress the striking Camp veteran in war games (but like. an actual older version of annabeth, not that Clarissabeth-mashup movie abomination) whether he admitted it or not. And I think the Athena vs Poseidon rivalry could be more intense and fill the rivals to friends to lovers trope.
And it all points to him being darker, more angry and more unhinged but it's very important to me that despite all he went through Percy still remains kind. He still rescues animals caught in nets in the ocean, he's still the type of guy to buy a rubber rat he doesn't need or want just because the store owner seems a little sad and pathetic, he's still taking outcasts under his wing. He looks a bit rugged and intimidating at first but that's only until he smiles at you and while he's not the best articulating his feelings he gives the best hugs that make people feel safe.
They killed Julius Caesar AGAIN today.
every march 15 in rome they restage the assassination at torre argentina. you know. the literal ruins of the curia of pompey. the exact place where it actually happened in 44 BCE.
and then they put his body on a litter and do a whole funeral procession through the city. with professional mourners and everything. they literally blocked traffic for this.
like imagine missing your bus because rome decided to re-kill julius caesar today.
note: i tried to show in the video how huge the crowd was because there were SO many people. also the last part of the video shows the roman forum, where caesar is actually buried. people still leave flowers there.

Yet another new study debunked the basis for the anti-trans sports bans. It was never about sports but for creating legal avenues for exclusion and abjection. This is one of the largest analyses ever conducted, involving 52 studies and 6,485 trans people. Read the study here.

“I started reading everything and watching as much as I could just trying to understand this character. I was like, ‘I don’t know how I’m going to relate to this person.’ But when I just brought it down to our scripts and took it scene by scene, she is — up to a point — a very normal girl who’s been through some horrendous things. I didn’t think that I could relate to her, but I definitely could get behind her and have empathy for her.” — HANNAH DODD
