I think we all should.
reblog to tell a 14 year old that these are the very, very hard years and they're not wrong to feel the way they do.
I had a fifteen minute long crying session yesternight over the fact that all I was 10 years ago, at the ripe old age of 14, is lost and lonely, and now, at 24, I am neither and that filled me with so much gratitude
reblog to tell a teenager that these arenât actually the best years of your life and that things can and will get better when you have independance and maybe are away from your situation right now.
Its me reblog to tell me that
Same thing with young adults. It can still get better. Your thirties arenât when youâre getting old, thatâs 70s-80s and we all know old people can be cool as hell anyway.
It might take time. More than has already passed, but it will get better.
It gets better. It does, right? Yeah. Yeah it gets better.
It might take time. More
than has already passed, but
it will get better.

A social media post by Jonathan Edward Durham (@thisone0verhere). It reads:
Honestly congratulations to anyone who's managed to do ANYTHING this year. I see your quilts. I see your poems and your books and the things you cook. I see your jewelry and your paintings and the things you crochet. I see the animals you take care of. I see the mouths you feed and the bills you pay and the pieces you're trying to pick up. I see you getting out of bed and chasing continuance and just existing. I see you. You are doing important work, and the world needs it, and you should be proud.

Feminists should be alarmed too. The anti-hormonal birth control is part of the same regressive anti-science, religious extremism, misogynistic miasma that is trying to take away womenâs rights across the country.
This is a gift link. Every other line holds a new horror. This is one of the scariest things Iâve read recently (and in this political climate thatâs saying something)

This section at the beginning of the article (minus a paragraph between image 2 and 3) really got me.

Here is a readable libk if you get bloxked by the NYT log in page
This is such an interesting and complex and alarming issue, because its several issues colliding in a terrible way.
Hormonal birth control is vital for people who cannot afford/manage a baby AND especially people with hormonal illnesses like PCOS (meee), endometriosis, some chronic illnesses, etc etc. This is very true.
Hormonal birth control has many unwanted side effects and can really mess people up- also ABSOLUTELY true. I've really struggled to find a sort that doesn't turn my anxiety machine into overdrive!! So much of hormones, especially of menstruating people, is underresearched and often underplayed. Leading into the next point:
Hormonal birth control is often thrown at people by uncaring/awful doctors who then proceed to dismiss any and all concerns about side effects. Especially if you're AFAB, doctors are notoriously awful and will speak over you. A lot of these women HAVE felt the frustration of being spoken over, having their questions ignored, being told their Real Physical Sicknesses are just hormonal and they need to suck it up. Its no wonder they'd turn to influencers who at least pretend to care more about them.
ALSO! The birth rate is very awful in the US right now! Restricting access to birth control is absolutely a goal to force more unwanted pregnancies! There are constant pushes to make people have babies while simultaneously denying them the money needed to care for the kids!
Its like a horrible perfect storm of conditions leading to women hearing of the bad side effects some people have (very real, because hormones are a wild beast we don't know enough of) seeing other women Like Them talk about it lifting their malaise (instead of a doctor who can often be dismissive, fostering a sense of a fellow giving you advice) and then getting hit with an unexpected baby (benefits the capitalistic hellscape that probably caused the malaise in the first place)
Stay on your birth control if it's not harming you at all! Or if you must go off it, use other reliable forms of contraception (period tracking is NOT reliable!!! sperm can stay alive and workable inside you for up to 5-7 days, and ovulation can sometimes come early or late and mess everything up!)

hidden danger of making friends and loved ones that treat you with a great deal of respect and care and make you value your own boundaries more is that it will make you look at other/past situations you've been in and go FUCK!!! AAAAA!! AAAAAA!!! FUCK!! GOD DAMNIT!!!! FUCK!!!!!!!!!
