A Close Second in a Two Person Race

The idea that the galaxy is flooded with microscopic life that exists within your body and all around you, and you do magic by being able to vibe with the powerful, invisible space bugs (I'm calling them this to be funny, I know it's not accurate) and getting the bugs to generate/manipulate the energy to do what you want? That's funny as hell. That's so delightfully gross and weird. It also makes a lot of Force-user on Force-user conflict into "Battles of the Bugs": "I vibe with the bugs BETTER than you!!! Also, I have MORE space bugs!!!" (Real quote by a Jedi youngling to another youngling at some point, I'm sure.)

Jedi academia versus non-Jedi academia has got to be wildly entertaining. "Is the Force a wave or a particle?" / "No, see it's these little bugs that then generate the waves." / "...What?" Also, this makes all "anti-Force" devices and drugs even funnier to me: machines and medicines of "FUCK them bugs".

The thing that really turned me to "Okay, I kind of like this, actually!" was reading about these space orcs villains from the Extended Universe, called the Yuuzhan Vong, who are invaders from outside the main galaxy. Supposedly, they can't be sensed by the Force and are immune to some Force abilities, which I felt dubious about conceptually until I adjusted my thinking towards the midi-chlorians interpretation of the Force. It was really funny for me to imagine that the Force (this sea of midi-chlorians and all lifeforms within it bonded together by them) was specific to this one galaxy, and other galaxies might have different ones or nothing at all. I like the main SW galaxy potentially being "the weird one infested with magic bugs".

It's not just the *thousands of people who may see this post - I've seen this spread widely across social media with a lot of engagement. Mainstream news outlets are covering the backlash - it's quite a bit of bad press. Campaigns like this can work sometimes. Often not, sure, but you don't know if you don't try to move the needle. Yes, they may make a quick buck off this nonsense, but how many people would never want to give Tim's a cent again over this? I know I never will, none of my friends or family ever will, and that I'll tell anyone who will listen to do the same. That's a lot of money over time, maybe enough to matter to them.

Sometimes her sprints last for like 4 or 5 seconds and she can shoot herself off the couch or into a wall if she gets a grip with her back claws. If she does it next to a wall, her head smacking into it sounds like someone is trying to break into the house. She doesn't wake up.

because as far as we know, the only constraints were that she couldn’t tell anyone where she going and couldn’t return to andor, so if she just. never told galad where they were going and just took him with her. technically, it would be within the bounds of gitara’s fortelling.

galad as we know him would take to be being raised to follow ji’e’toh like a fish to water. one of the main things elayne has to say about him is that his honour and drive to do the right thing is almost always at the forefront of his mind, even at the expense of himself and others. it would genuinely be perfect for him. he may not have the look of the aiel but he would certainly have the conviction of one.

plus, being able to see him and rand develop a real brotherly relationship while they are both with the aiel would make his fight against demandred in tarmon gai’don — He is not here, but his brother is! — even more compelling. the siblings he didn’t grow up with need him, and he will be loyal to them to the end because not only is that how he was raised but, aeil or damodred or trakand, that is simply who he is.

furthermore a galad who didn’t have to suffer through taringail for longer than he absolutely had to would probably have a healthier childhood. janduin would have been able to have a pseudo/second?-son he would have adored. (though i doubt tigraine would have been able to directly raise galad after becoming a maiden, she would have still been in his life. he wasn’t born when she was a maiden so there would probably be some arguing but a compromise could be made i think)

post-rhuidean reveal galad would have jumped at the idea of a free first-brother and two free second-siblings. and maybe a even near-brother in mat, who would be a little freaked out but honestly has bigger problems at the minute so kind of just goes with it. galad and aviendha would have been bickering about the best ways to teach rand about aiel culture and poor rand would just be stuck in the middle of it. galad having a little sulk about the winespring brother’s shelter and not being able to go be with his baby first-brother.

oh all of this yes, it was part of my “he’d be one of the only characters that ends up less fucked up if he was raised as an aiel” idea that this spitballed from. not that morgase didn’t try her best i firmly believe she did! but galad was a bit of a displaced floater in the trakand family with no distinct role unlike the rest of them. the aiel’s firm and expansive family dynamics, adoption culture, and the lack of inheritance would avoid that happening.

and i agree on incurring toh being expected and having outlined consequences to it would also help him out. he’s the kind of guy who overcompensates for everything, and ji’e’toh explicitly condemns this, which would certainly curb that behaviour.
