I’m kinda surprised that nalbinding isn’t as popular as crochet and knitting tbh because it has an even lower barrier of entry tools wise and unlike crochet and knitting it makes fabric that you can cut.
I guess it’s because it’s slower or something.
Nalbinding aka needle binding is when you use yarn and a big sewing needle to make fabric btw
It also has a lot of different kinds of stitches you can do that make different densities of fabric.
Some people even make rugs.
I feel like part of it might be casual people are generally aware of the existence of crochet and knitting, even if they don’t know very much about either, but have never heard of nalbinding
Yeah I hadn’t heard of it until recently and I ordered a big bone needle for myself to try it out and that should be arriving soon.
I was surprised that I’d never heard of it though. It’s older than knitting and crocheting and even though it’s been done all over the world it’s super relevant to Nordic culture and my grandmother and I are both into keeping in touch with our roots a bit so I’m surprised I’ve never heard of it.
It seems like the sort of thing that would be popular even if not as popular as crocheting and knitting, considering the low barrier of entry.
You also don’t need a bunch of different sized needles for nalbinding or whatever. The size of the stitch is controlled either completely freehand or by pulling it against one of your fingers. Most people who have a lot of nalbinding needles seem to either have tried out wood, bone, and metal ones to see which kind they liked or they enjoy carving wood or bone and like making their own needles as an extra hobby.
It’s also a lot easier to freehand and adjust as you go than crochet or knitting and you mostly go by inches instead of rows and number of stitches so a large number of accessories like stitch markers or whatever isn’t really necessary.
Maybe the lack of accessories also makes it unpopular idk. People do like collecting things in their nests.
I've been wanting to do so, I cannot find anyone who can teach me, and any books I can find on it are Ass in the Visual Learning department. Otherwise I'd be making the hell outta some nalbinded fabric
I found this channel by a nice man who makes up close tutorials
I create videos on YouTube to learn people how to needlebind using two fingers and your thumb. Needlebinding helps people to relax, relieve
I thought this would be kind of a niche post to make but I was quickly reminded that I’m on tumblr, the website full of gay people with one billion hobbies.
Documenting the realities of men who commit crimes and claim womanhood.
chilling to scroll through all those names of rapists and killers. imagine being locked up with one every night.

Happy Pride to lesbian and bisexual women specifically!
(bonus shout out to asexual women but not really on topic of pride)
Happy pride month
what in the world are "pity likes" you guys are inventing new ways to be insecure. every like i give is a like with my whole pussy
our biggest problem is that women believe men are the people they pretend to be around women. That is not a real guy, that is his 'interacting with a woman' costume. I was reminded this for the 6897th time the other friday where not many people were in the office and the nicest young guy in the department who crochets and is very kind to all the women here was talking to a few other young guys about his girlfriend and his friends' girlfriends, and it was harrowing. What he was saying was bad enough but he and the others even stopped themselves and laughed and said "well, that's about as much as I can say in the office." like what there's MORE?
All the while I am sure his girlfriend thinks she has struck gold with her nice long haired golden retriever crochet boyfriend
I'm about to say something really mean but it does feel like most women are just insanely gullible. They can witness males' woman-hating all around them from every type man and in every aspect of society for their whole lives but their boyfriend crochets and acts like a nice guy in front of her so he must be different from all the rest of them. It's like a baby being distracted by someone jingling keys in front of their face. And yeah the men are laughing at you with their friends for falling for it. But if I told you about it, you would say no, you are wrong, bitter manhating bitch. he literally crochets
Literally every woman who dates a man thinks she has found an exception. And we wonder why patriarchy continues to flourish.
exactly. Every male partnered woman will tell you she is lucky, she found the rare good man who is not like the others. So all of you have a unicorn huh? I wonder why I never see masses of these unicorns around. But all of you found one? Something’s not adding up.

Have you ever owned a video game console that was NOT made by Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft? (e.g. Tiger's LED games, Leapfrog's Leapster, any plug'n'play, independently produced consoles like the Ouya...)

the thing is is that you'll be like. 11 years old and someone will tell you that you have to shave your legs. either it will be your mum or a friend or a mean girl in the p.e. changing rooms telling you how gross it is that you have hair on your legs. so then you ask your mum about it and she says yep you have to take this razor blade and drag it across your skin under running water and just hope you don't cut yourself too badly and you have to do this every single week and maybe more frequently than that and you have to do that for fucking ever. the rest of your fucking life. because the hair that grows naturally on your legs is gross and ugly and people will laugh and boys won't like you! of course boys have hair on THEIR legs. but that's normal and even attractive and it's just not the same for you. and a few years later they'll say well you obviously should also be shaving your armpits. and then it's your arms and then it's that you have to wax your upper lip and pluck your eyebrows and ewww why do you have hair on your fingers and your toes.. you need to shave that too. and then suddenly you need to buy spray that will make invisible hairs on your face visible so that you can shave that too! and it's expensive and time consuming and difficult and it HURTS but they just say beauty is pain babe! and you're not allowed to say that maybe if beauty is pain then you don't actually want to be beautiful
and i'm so fucking tired of girls who do shave being defensive when this topic comes up because then i have to say well of COURSE it's your personal choice whether you want to shave or not! no offense! maybe it makes you feel empowered! you do it for YOURSELF! because that's bullshit and i actually DO think you should stop shaving your legs because it's not fucking empowering it's insane. if you give it more than a minute of thought it can't possibly be empowering. you're in a PRISON!!!!! and i was in the prison too okay and i know it seems hard to break out but i promise you it's not. and the more people we can break out of the prison the easier it gets for everyone else i swear to god. please
