Instituting a massive overhaul to the federal government’s scientific grant system in order to find the mythical cartoon characters, President Donald Trump announced Thursday that he would be diverting all science funding into locating The Smurfs. “These are very bad tiny blue people, and we gotta kill these Smurfs immediately—I don’t care how many vaccine trials I have to cancel,” said Trump, signaling an end to all ongoing cancer research in order to “harness the magic” that the Smurfs control. 

For an unknown reason, the internal name of the hedge maze planet in Gusty Garden Galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy is "LavaMazeCubePlanet". This suggests it was either originally meant to appear in a lava area (possibly Melty Molten Galaxy), originally had lava in it, or somehow was reworked from a lava-themed planetoid without the name being changed.

It is also possible, though highly unlikely, that it was literally meant to appear in a lava area in the same exact form it does in the finished game, as a visual joke due to being extremely visually unfitting for such a location.
