I got you at a time in my life when I was really sick (being sick is like when I'm up late because I'm throwing up and you are a very handsome good boy who sits with me) and they had to put me asleep for a procedure. A procedure is like what happened to you when they put you asleep and took your balls away.
Now you've lived with me for five years. Five is like the number of toe beans on one of your feet. When I clip your nails five is when we're halfway done. But we're hopefully not even halfway done with how long we get to be together. I'm gonna have to figure out new ways to help you count.

Do you have any tricks on anatomy?? Or like what shapes should be for where??
for more accurate proportions, I like to mark down some landmarks early, so clavicle/pelvis/feets/etc. and then go back and add and refine based on that
for shapes, there's not really any specific assigned shapes like "the arm should be a cylinder and the shoulder should be a circle." I usually like to think of shapes more abstractly. The stricter you are, the stiffer your figures will look.
maybe one shape thing is to think of the torso a little like a bean? That's what my figure drawing profs teach lol
Also you can use references help guide you. In the above image, I have my reference photo, the action lines I traced from it and then a drawing based on that

soooo r u planning to write pokemon oculus on ao3?
Iâm not really sure? I have a few writing snippets and some wip chapters, but Iâm not the best at writing and finishing long fics or fic series. And I do want to focus on art for the auâspecifically character and Fakemon designs, though I might do an animatic or two if I find the time.
For now, hereâs the first writing snippet I ever did for oculus, in which Ash learns of Professor Blackwoodâs connection to the missing Champion of the Ervenis Region:
Having dropped his things off in his room, Ash heads back down the stairs to meet up with Professor Blackwood so they can head to his lab.
Thereâs probably tons of new Ervenis Region PokĂŠmon to meet at the lab. Iâm so psyched!
However, once he reaches the first floor, his eyes catch on a side table positioned near the bottom step. The table has a lamp and one picture frame resting on it. The picture frame is lying face down.
Ash steps towards the dresser and picks up the picture frame, ignoring Pikachuâs questioning chirp.
He flips it over.
What registers first is that the photograph is of a wedding, and Ash feels his lips pulling into a small smile. The sky in the photograph is a vibrant, cloudless blue, and a crowd of people dressed in dark suits and elegant flowing dresses stands below an arch of blue hydrangeas and white roses, all of them grinning from ear to ear.
What registers next is a slightly younger Professor Blackwood, standing in the very center of the photo, right below the arch. Heâs wearing a pristine white suit and there are blue forget-me-nots woven in short curls of hair that are a rich copper brown, nary a strand of white in sight. Heâs practically beaming at the camera.
One of his arms is around another man. Heâs shorter than Professor Blackwood, with darker skin. Heâs wearing a matching suit and his hairâlong, curling slightly, and streaked with silverâis twisted into an elaborate half-braid threaded with blooming white roses. His smile is small, yet glowingly jubilant.
His hand is holding Professor Blackwoodâs, and Ash spots the gold and silver glint of the two wedding rings adorning their fingers.
âAsh?â
Pikachu yelps. Ash starts and quickly sets the picture frame down, but itâs too late.
Professor Blackwood stares from the entrance to the kitchen. He looks at Ash. Then at the picture frame. Back at Ash. He sighs deeply and walks over.
âItâs fine.â Professor Blackwood stops before the side table and picks up the picture frame, fingers brushing reverently at its edges. He hands it back to Ash.
Ash looks down at it once more, contemplating. âThis is your wedding, right?â he asks tentatively.
âYes,â Professor Blackwood says. His voice is oddly weary. âIt was about three years ago. I remember-â He chuckles quietly, a soft exhale of a laugh. âChrist, I was so nervous that day. I was terrified something would happen or that Iâd mess something up and ruin everything, but- well. When we exchanged vows I was so happy I completely forgot to be nervous.â
He leans forward and points at the other man in the center of the picture. âThatâs my husband. Jon. Short for Jonathan.â
He remembers the articles heâd skimmed about the Ervenis Region. Remembers the photos of a man with dark skin and long silver-streaked hair dressed in a waistcoat and a short green cape, standing among the ranks of Diantha and Steven and Cynthia and all the other Regional Champions.
Jonathan Blackwood-Sims, Ervenis Region Champion, the caption had read.
Ash looks up at Professor Blackwood with wide eyes. âYou donât mean-â
âYes,â Professor Blackwood says. âHe was the Champion.â
âYouâre married to the Champion?!â Ash exclaims. âThatâs awesome! But-â He stops, eyes widening as the awful realization clicks into place. âBut that would meanâŚâ
Professor Sycamore sighs and levels Ash with a sobering look. âThe Ervenis Region cut itself off from the world about a year and a half ago, after its Champion went missing during a series of attacks on its major cities. They reopened the borders some months after, but⌠they still havenât found the Champion. Most Ervenisans believe heâs dead.â
âOh,â Ash breathes. He looks down at the photograph; Jonâs bright, joyful face smiles back up at him. âOh no, I⌠Iâm so sorry.â
Professor Blackwood sighs his weary sigh and gently takes the photo back, setting it face-down on the table.
His wedding ring is conspicuously absent.
âItâs alright. You didnât know.â He turns towards the door. âLetâs get going. I know Timâs probably itching to get another look at your Greninja.â
Ash hesitates. âProfessor Blackwood⌠are you okay?â
Professor Blackwood stops, then looks back at Ash and smiles. It doesnât reach his eyes.
âDonât worry about me. Iâve⌠learned to manage.â
Mostly, yeah. Though I imagine early into his captivity Elias would want to study him, and he would later be put in a coma so thereâs no chance of him finding a way to escape
Where do Salesa and Georgie fit into the pokemon oculus au?
Salesaâs role is similar to his role in canon, except instead of haunted artifacts he trades rare items. I imagine if pokemon oculus were a game, Salesa would be an npc youâd be able to interact with to buy powerful items you wouldnât be able to get anywhere else, though youâd probably have to beat him and all his employees in battle in one giant gauntlet before heâd do business with you. Outside of that, he also has a hand in the mining, trade, and manufacture of the kind of minerals used to make metaglass (which is then used to make metalenses and expensive ervenisan glasswork), so heâd be involved with the parties who have need of it (Gertrude, Elias, Gerry, Martin, etc).
Georgie is be a content creator and podcaster with a focus on the pokemon battling scene and on the popularity of metafestation in said scene. However, she doesnât battle much herself and when she does she doesnât use metafestation. This is because she experienced an incident similar to those experienced by Michael and Martin, where she was overwhelmed by the emotions and fears made manifest by metafestation and was changed because of itâlike in canon, after this incident, she is no longer able to feel fear, and because fear is tied to metafestation, she physically can no longer do it.
Sheâs pretty close with Martin in this AU and helps support him after Jon goes missing. Sheâs one of few people who still believes Jon is alive (Martin canât bring himself to hope), and she signs off every podcast episode by asking anyone in her audience to contact the authorities if they have any information about what happened to him.

I wondered how Jon's captivity went tho. I highly doubt Elias would be willing to harm his main conduit of power (maybe...). Buttttt, I do hope it's not as traumatizing as being non-consensually moisturized by skin stealing clowns for a month... right?

For context: this came out in 2011 in Australia. Same-sex marriage would not be legalized until December 2017.
It was only legalized in 8 US states (the 8th only a few months before), and wouldnât be legalized nation-wide until 2015.
It was only legal in TEN COUNTRIES in 2011. We wouldnât hit 20 countries until 2017. (Australia was 23rd)
As of today (April 14, 2026), I believe only 38 countries have fully legalized same-sex marriage. Out of somewhere around 200 countries in the world. Thatâs only ~19% of countries.
