Because “that doesn’t happen to guys” *IS* a feminist issue. Male victims of abuse being dismissed, blamed or ridiculed because they weren’t “manly” enough is a part of patriarchy. And you can raise awareness of that without dismissing other feminist issues or bringing it up as a “counter argument” to problems women face.

I’m glad you care more about how your ideology looks than those who suffer from the awful trauma of being raped. You looked at a post about how men aren’t taken seriously when they’re the victims… and you chose to not express your condolences, not to show sympathy, not to do what you could to help raise awareness of this. Instead, you co-opted it to make it about your political ideology and how your political ideology is somehow the key to making things right. Not to look at the individual data, but to be so blatantly and insultingly reductionist, that you imply that a supposed system that men created is the reason men are not taken seriously when they’re sexually traumatized. You used it to say how happy you you were that this post wasn’t beating down what was truly important to you… feminism. This post isn’t for you. It was never for you. It was never about you. And you made it about you anyway.

Let’s take a feminist perspective on male suicide rates: why aren’t we trying to help the 70% dying by suicide, who are men?

Suicide is violence. Using this understanding, feminists are not surprised at higher rates of male suicide, since maleviolence is at epidemic levels

Male suicide is understood as self-directed maleviolence. Working to name, and then to end maleviolence, is a key feminist aim.

Threats to harm, along with threats to self-harm, and threats of suicide, are all part of the emotional abuser’s playbook. Feminists understand the spectrum of maleviolence: from insults, to threats, to violent acts

High male suicide rates can be understood as the collateral damage associated with epidemic male violence. There must be an overall benefit to the oppressor class, or the end goal wouldn’t be ‘worth’ the collateral damage

So, what’s the end goal that ‘justifies’ male violence? It’s male supremacy. Dominion over the female sex class. Hierarchy within the male sex class. That’s the root cause of male violence, hence high male suicide rates

 Men could reverse high male suicide rates by abandoning male violence as a tactic to enforce male supremacy. They could consciously choose to dismantle male supremacy, and abandon male violence in all its forms

As long as male supremacy is maintained and perpetuated by men, for the benefit of the male sex class, it’s hard to see how any of us could address the rates of suicide associated with maleness

 It’s necessary to understand that it’s not ‘toxic masculinity’ that is used to perpetuate male supremacy. It’s masculinity

Some idiot feminist says male suicide is men’s fault for being violent.

What does it say about you if you think that half the population views suicide as a necessary evil as part of some masterplan to maintain ‘dominance’. 

And a quick question might be how does suicide help maintain dominance? What has one of those got to do with the other? A: Nothing.

And if feminists actually did want this to stop why then have there been several instances of feminist groups shutting down conferences that were there to discuss issues like suicide and how to help prevent it?
