Absolutely. I don't even have anything to add. The story ended up becoming exactly what it had been mocking all these years. LMAO.

trauma humping
the “fuck canon everything is made up do whatever you want forever” approach to fandom can be fun in small doses but i find that subscribing a little too hard to that attitude can lead to this belief that serious engagement with and analysis of a text is an act of no fun self-flagellation when that couldn’t be further from the truth. analysis is literally fun
Does this sound like someone who would want the ending of a story to do the opposite? Take the fantastical world and turn it into mundane reality? Terry Pratchett loved and advocated for how important the fantasy genre is.
Finale Haters are NOT Acephobics for Wanting a Kiss
(Edited this post because the original rant was a reply to someone's post due to a misunderstanding.)
I have seen "Finale Haters are acephobic because they want AziCrow to kiss/have sex in the Finale". So I'm going to rant about it once and for all (hopefully).
Lumping Finale haters with acephobics because they want a kiss (and joke about AziCrow having sex) is dismissing every single ace person who wanted AziCrow to experience that in a happy ending.
If you hated the Finale for the lack of kissing, remember that you are valid because the damn thing is terrible when you look at it as a romance. Nothing was resolved in their relationship. The established F15 kiss was a setup with no paid off. They never talked properly about their feelings. Azi tried to, but all Crowley did was blame him for everything he didn't do. The list goes on.
I never expected a kiss after S1. I even said to discord friends that if they kiss I'm going to be so annoyed by it because it would cause arguments between people who saw them as non romantic (as just friends) and people who like them as lovers. But Season 2 set that up.
If they didn't want them to kiss in Go3 maybe they shouldn't have given them a break-up kiss at the end of S2. Because that's a promise to the audience that they would have a better kiss later after reconciliation.
And don't recite those people's interview about the kiss to me. I have read those, and I thought it was stupid. If there was a story that needed a kiss the most, it's Good Omens's Finale. AziCrow didn't go through 6000 years trauma to end up with this.
The straight couple got a sex scene in Season 1, but a second kiss for AziCrow would be too much. Please. 🙄
If you are ace and hate the Finale, you are also valid because ace people can and are allowed to enjoy seeing kisses. Kissing is often tied to sex, but it doesn't have to be. People kiss all the time without it leading to sex. And there are ace people who aren't grossed out by kisses and sex in the fandom.
Most Book Omens art I have drawn, even the ones that depict them doing sexual activities, should have been tagged as ace AziCrow, but I don't want sex repulses people to come across them by accident. (Note: Not talking about zine art or collab work because I adjusted them based on the context of the project)
My headcanon for their relationship is that they are an asexual married couple. They are not repulsed by sex. In fact, they like doing it sometimes when the mood is right or when they have an idea they want to try. What makes them ace is that sex to them is just one of those "fun" activities. To them, it is on the same level as watching a movie together or playing a game together of importance. They can live together forever without ever needing or thinking of having sex if they want to. They like the physical pleasure aspect of sex, just like how they like the pleasure of eating or drinking but there is no "wow that guy/girl is so hot I wanna fuck them" thoughts going on in those mind unless it is about each other.
Demisexual is the closest human label that can be applied to these two. But even so, they aren't humans, and their way of thinking is vastly different from us. I don't really like labeling them tbh. They just do what they wanna do and don't care how humans see their relationship or orientation.
There might be more to add, but I don't have more right now. Just woke up and saw a take that made me want to say sth.
As usual, if you disagree, it's best to block me cause I'm too lazy to debate with people, honestly. I'd rather spend my time drawing my blorbos. This post is to declare my stand on fandom discourse so people know I am problematic. 👍
Thanks for reading if you made it this far.
This ☝️☝️☝️
I’m ace. I’m queer. I’ve written about this, but the anger about not kiss wasn’t even about physical intimacy for me. I realized I was ace because of evaluating myself and my life after seeing this show and see a love I saw as what I came to discover is ace but had never seen it represented before.
The kiss was about queer erasure. It was about kill your gays. Yes, it should not be necessary for love to be physically represented. But it’s deeper than that. It was that the ONLY kiss they got was not a joyous one. If was this was a straight couple there would be no fucking question in whether or not they would kiss. It wouldn’t be a point of contention.
It’s about shows that weren’t even allowed to show queer characters kissing (I’m looking about things like you my dear Korrasami). It’s about as queer people we fucking deserved that s2 kiss to be set right or I wish they never kissed at all. It’s about how this show did show us a spectrum of sexuality and identities that made a lot of us feel seen and accepted and that’s why we found comfort in it and then took that away.
And I’m ace, I’m still fucking angry about it. And if you’re ace and didn’t want them to kiss there is nothing wrong with that either. But it is NOT acephobic at all for wanting a kiss. There has been plenty of acephobia in the Good Omens community, but at least for most people who are saying “they didn’t even kiss” that is not the case.
Anyway, Happy last day of Pride to my beautiful queer people out there!
As an ace I'm starting to get tired of people using their (and my) identity to silence others. Saying that if A/C had kissed it'd have meant they wanted to have sex, means that I now have to read the s2 kiss as sexual? Lots of people do and that's fine, but as an ace I was happy to see two ace characters kiss and being able to interpret it in a not sexual way, it was so refreshing. And now people are claiming that hoping for a kiss = acephobia because kiss = sex... I thought "asexuality was a spectrum"?. Why can't we explore different ways to be ace? There's only one way to get our rep on screen? We can't have shades now?

i don't know how to articulate well that like, no matter the good intention or reason or logic A/C choosing to hit the reset button was, it's messed up they made that decision in the first place. they should not have HAD to.
"oh well humanity were all dead anyway at that point in the movie they couldn't have been involved'. but they SHOULD have been the third player. they SHOULD have had a seat at the table. Jesus would've been the perfect representation to tell them fucking no, let's try to fix what we already HAVE. this world is messed up but it's WORTH saving.
i love them, i do, but the fact they made the choice on humanity's behalf should not have been theirs to begin with.
Anyone else still not able to rewatch Sherlock after S4 because even if you have good memories with S1-3, you know what’s coming?
oh, but imagine if your tumblr dash was now flooded with gifs and pictures of aziracrow hugging and kissing and saying 'i love you'. imagine if you could replay that moment when they hugged so tightly and grin widely, kicking your feet all giddy and happy
what if everyone was comforted by the finale? if there was no fight over who is in the right, just as we were all united in pain after s2? if everyone was happy, including them and including us? if that 90 minutes gave us what we were hoping for? if the finale wasnt so cold and heartless and instead loving and tender? if they actually ended up in their south downs cottage and there were nightingales and we would actually see it and they would be free and happy and-
yeah.
yeah. imagine. we could have had it all.
gah, now we have to make it ourselves, from scratch at home.
we have to do EVERYTHING in this house.
Rocky fix
Good Omens "SHITSCRIPT" from 1992
Sir Terry Pratchett had nothing to do with this!
Hey, guys! Did you know there's a 1992 version of the Good Omens script that Neil Gaiman DESPERATELY does not want people to see? Apparently, it's SO BAD that people universally refer to it as the "SHITSCRIPT". Here's how Neil feels about it:
Notice the vague legal threats---which I believe was the same abuse tactic he used against his RAPE VICTIMS! Interesting! (Man has a pattern.)
Anyway, it's on the fucking Internet Archive. You can read it here:
Full script for the 1990s movie.
I also found this Google Drive link (thank you, people of tumblr!). You can download it if you are so inclined:
CursedGOScript (1).pdf
It always goes without saying, but fuck Neil Gaiman. Don't take the Good Omens finale personally; it was always destined to be a piece of shit.
OOH we can disrespect Neil Gaiman by sharing this awful, awful script?? SAY LESS lmao I was cackling the entire time I was reading this. Aziraphale works at the British museum (for literally no reason that is explained in the script) and Crowley owns a nightclub and is a somewhat mean and extremely pessimistic character that hates the Earth and hates humanity and just wants to fuck off to Alpha Centauri (but without Aziraphale) and is insulting him at one point and literally says to Aziraphale “you don’t deserve to live” BAHAHAAH in the context of the finale, not sure if that makes it better or worse LOL. If nothing else convinces me that the finale was just bad fanfiction, then this will certainly do the trick. If that man could write this flaming pile of garbage in 1992, then imagine what he could write with a bigger budget in 2026 LOL
oh and ALSO, Terry Pratchett left the 1992 project out of principle (I suspect because he could tell the company they were working with was going to make it a shit show). Meanwhile, NG stayed and wrote the entire script himself (presumably just for the money, except the company eventually went bankrupt and seems to have paid him nothing for it LOL). Soooooo, makes us wonder why NG wrote a season 2 and 3 at all, huh??? 🤡
Anyway. If you for some reason still believe NG has any competence as a screenwriter (when he isn’t 100% basing it off an already-completed narrative that Terry Pratchett wrote over half of), then go ahead and take a look at this. Imo it belongs in the flaming trash can, right next to the GO finale.
LOL

... Man, the way I keep thinking I'm over s3 and then turning around and going 'Just one more thing' like I'm Columbo because I thought of yet another thing that annoys me to no end. Will it ever stop
i love fake plot holes
little inconsistencies that at first you assume "oh, the author must have fucked up", but then later on you realize that no, it was on purpose, they wanted you to think they fucked up but they hadnt
related: when you think "this has Implications the author didn't think about" and then it turns out the author was thinking about them the whole time
you get me
I love that but hate the reverse: when a story makes you think that the author is deeply considering every detail and has it all planned for a brilliant conclusion that makes every odd end come together. But then they completely shit the bed and make it clear that you cared a lot more about the story all along.
(This has most prominently been Good Omens for me, but I've felt with other stories too.)
enemies to lovers except they were never enemies and they were never lovers
that’s because they never existed
I saw a post a week or two ago, somewhere in the GO3 tag, talking about how fans need to realize that writers don't owe them a "happy ending." Or any specific character resolution, story resolution, etc. Obviously referring to the notion the people upset about GO's finale needed to remember that they weren't entitled to the sort of ending they wanted, and there was nothing wrong with the story as it ended up concluding.
And I agree! Sort of. Meaning, I agree with the idea that people aren't entitled to a story working out the way they personally want.
BUT.
In my admittedly limited time hanging out in this fandom, I don't think that's what I've seen. It's certainly not what I personally experienced in my own viewing of the finale.
While it's perfectly reasonable to say that people aren't entitled to stories working out the way they want, I think it's just as reasonable to say that they are allowed to expect a story to function and resolve following its own internal rules. They are allowed to assume a story will maintain its genre, follow through with its message, address loose threads in a way that makes sense within its established logic.
It's not "entitled" to be weirded out and disappointed when your whimsical, fun, satirical comedy-with-a-dash-of-romance suddenly veers wildly off-course and ends up awkwardly metamorphosing into a nihilistic tragedy. It's not petty or whiny to be sad about characters you've known and loved for years being destroyed so suddenly and unexpectedly. Falling in love with a story that - for decades - has had a specific, uplifting, accepted thematic message, only to be upset when that message is abruptly tossed out and replaced with something wildly different isn't the same as demanding writers bend to your will.
Isn't that the point of choosing a genre, or an established fiction? If I want to watch something scary, I'll seek out horror. If I want something heartwarming, I'll go for... I dunno... a Pixar movie or whatever. That's not me demanding things or being entitled; it's me making a choice about what I want to see based upon the established characteristics of specific bits of media.
People aren't upset just because they didn't get the kiss they wanted; they're upset because they decided to watch GO3 with the understanding that this piece of fiction was built around a specific sort of theme and vibe and wholesome message - based upon an established canon - and then they were smacked upside the head with something entirely different.
It was disorienting for me, and I've just been partaking in this fandom for a few months. I can't even imagine how shocking and jarring it was for people who've been here for years.
I keep seeing people describe GO3's ending as "bitterseet" and it pisses me off so much. There's nothing sweet about it, it's just bitter. The creators might've thought showing two humans with Aziracrow's faces would be a bandaid for the deep wound they have inflicted, but instead it's a bucket of gasoline poured over it with a lit match thrown for good measure.

gods I love our flag means death so much. I love seeing these characters be happy and in love. I love that they’re allowed to love and be loved, not only accepted. I love that they’re allowed to be themselves. Everything about this show means so much to me
the fuck you mean that jimbriel got to say "i love you" to aziraphale but crowley didnt???
And got a hug from him too.
