Anyway I was thinking it's such a pity that there are some things that the English subtitles simply can't convey regarding the name of the characters. It's actually quite meaningful.

Like He Shouyue 鹤守月 and Fangyue 芳月.

So 鹤守月 means Crane Guard Moon while 芳月 would be Virtuous Moon. He was basically named like that because his whole reason for being born is to protect Fangyue the moon 😭

I was wondering why 鹤 Crane. So here're the explanations I found.

In China, the crane is seen (among other things) as a symbol of noble character and longevity. It seems it also represents long-lasting love since the bird is monogamous and stays with one partner until death. So yeah quite romantic since He Shouyue is an embodiment of Zhongxing's feelings towards Fangyue. Forever love her and stay with her.

In Japan, the crane is again a symbol of longevity and good fortune. And since He Shouyue is a paper doll, he would be a paper crane. And traditionally, it was believed that if one folded 1000 origami cranes, one’s wish would come true.

I've also seen that there was an event in the game where you could purchase Paper Crane Wishes to carry your heartfelt message or confess your love xD

All in all He Shouyue carries Zhongxing's long-lasting love and wishes towards Fangyue.

After writing all this, I was actually thinking about a particular scene in the movie where subtitles are not exactly accurate and miss out on the depth of the scene.

Back to her first real name and to be simply the moon :'(

Here he actually says "那我就还做鹤守月,一直守着你"

Which actually means that he will then still be He Shouyue, to be always by her side.

Since she wants to be the moon, then in the next life he won't be human like he wished but he'll remain He Shouyue the Crane to Guard the Moon!!

I found this incredibly sad and poetic.

Not everyone would want to live like that, of course, but I'll bet you that a lot of people would. It's a great living situation for single people, young people just starting out, and people who are in a city on a temporary basis. Cooking at scale is significantly more time- and cost-efficient than each individual cooking or getting takeout. Cleaning kitchen facilities scales similarly well. Employ a few people who know what they're doing and are paid well to do it, and they'll keep that kitchen running safely, efficiently, and cleanly in a way that a few hundred pressed-for-time 20-somethings never could. And a lot of people simply do not care enough about what they eat to want anything else.

Moreover, not putting a full kitchen in each unit means that the units can be smaller without cutting into living space, cheaper to build, and safer. Lots of people who live alone don't cook a lot, since cooking for one is not very time-efficient, which means that for all those people the kitchen is practically just dead space. You could replace its function with a microwave and a minifridge, and if you do, you've given that person a whole extra room.
