disabled people are often in permacrisis
there's never enough money each month. there's always an unexpected illness. new symptoms pop up or old symptoms flare up. meds have to be managed always and refilled constantly and any refill has the opportunity to go wrong. any regular care has the opportunity to go wrong. any mistake can send your health spiralling. it's always "i just need to get through this bad patch" but as soon as one ends another begins. another crisis begins in the middle of the last crisis. managing one thing leaves another thing to be neglected until that becomes a major issue and has to be managed asap and the cycle starts anew over and over and over

Man who hates the very concept of life and all living beings: I should design portal websites for colleges and job applications
Even if I didn’t have a solid plan, in the back of my head, I always assumed I’d kill myself.
Now I’m an adult and people my age have their lives in order and I’m stuck here, confused, because I never planned to be alive and I’m so far behind.
I feel like I’ll never catch up.
Hey all.
I want to make an addition to this. I made this post a long time ago.
I’m currently back in university, and I’ve made so much progress with my trauma. I’m in a loving relationship.
Things can and will get better. It’s not too late.
Nothing is perfect by any means. But I’m happy I’m still here and didn’t kill myself. I hope you get to that point, too 💕
The addition is important! I see the original post circulating a lot, but the addition is important!
New addition two years later. I’m still going strong!
I’m getting married. I’m still in that loving relationship.
I’ve learned that there’s no real timeline. It’s okay. And while it sucks that I lost time, there’s still so much for me to experience and enjoy.
Newest addition. 7 years after the original post!
I got married last month! My dog is laying on me snoring. I’ve learned to have healthy friendships and relationships. I’ve learned that I’m not alone and that even when things are hard, I’m going to be okay.
This showed up in my notes again. And here we are. 2026.
I’ve been married a little over two years. I just got home from friendships that feel like home and family. My husband and I have our own place. I have a full ass book ready to be published.
I don’t know. I’m still in a good place and I can’t believe how far I’ve come from my original post.
Meanwhile, via Bluesky...
And here is the resulting image. There is at least Someone in the U.K. government who is actually doing their job, and it is Chief Mouser to the Cabinet, Larry the Cat.

Experimented a bit with a new way of detailing the tiles. Kinda like it? This particular piece took a hell of a lot of work. I’d love if you shared the vibes it’s giving off, for research purposes 💖
just received the best text message I’ve ever had. from my mom

And then you can’t even say shit about bc people start trying to put you in a jacket and shit. Like omg it’s so strict???
partially-managed mental illness is so fucking funny i'll be sitting around doing my job and suddenly think "wow i hate myself" and immediately get confused because, like, that's not TRUE! i love myself so much. who are you to talk to me like that
following weird horny furries who are into shit like pooltoys and transformation and stuff is enrichment. the vitamins and minerals of posting
once you get over your ass and realise you will never get some people and that’s ok you are basically immune to right wing fearmongering. otherkin? none of my fucking business
I must not fall victim to disgust. Disgust is the heart-killer. Disgust is the little-death that brings total apathy. I will face my disgust. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the disgust has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
when i was little and i went to church people would talk about “fearing god.” they would use ‘’fear’ to describe like a way of respecting him while understanding his power and i never knew what that meant until i met a fucking horse
This… went in a completely different direction than I thought.
Horses will do that too - go in a completely different direction than what you thought. It’s one of the reasons they’re feared.

Under communism the wait staff will not ask if Pepsi is okay. You will not even find out that's its Pepsi instead of coke until you take your first sip. Unless you train like me, to know the difference from the sound of the Fizz alone, that is the only way we can beat communism and I can teach you. Take my hand. Not like that you grabbed it gay. Stop. Giggles. I SAID STOP
Being a calm, gentle, non-reactive person is really hard work, which is probably why many people are none of these things. Personally I think it’s worth it but sometimes one does want to just roll around on the floor wailing at the top of one’s lungs
People in my notes who think I’m repressed or dissociating: you will feel better when you learn emotions are not a binary of Not Feeling It vs Being Overwhelmed By It
Ok but How Do I Do That
Learn strategies for enhancing self-regulation skills, and discover the benefits of mastering this essential life skill to help emotional dy
There are many techniques (also, there are drugs)
Emotional regulation is about managing emotions to maintain balance.
A little meatier than the Harvard page but covering the same ground. These pages will give you additional phrases to google for advice
This sounds wild/stupid/possibly a little insane, but I find that actually addressing the emotions and speaking to them like people is my most useful way of regulating. Emotions are expressing a Deep Concern and Want To Be Heard. Once they are Heard, they are often willing to be soothed or willing to work themselves out with a cry/a walk/a snack/a nap (all things that allow for physical emotion processing and signalling to your body that you are safe).
Often, when they're incredibly intense, they're reflecting those concerns that we have ignored or exiled about ourselves, or tried to bury or suppress. It's not your enemy. It's coming from your deepest self and it's an expression of your truest ideals. Even "destructive" emotions like anger become your allies and friends when you understand why they're there.
And sometimes the message is received but you still need to, like, do the dishes. In that case, respectfully approaching your emotions almost like a compassionate parent will literally get you everywhere. Again, I know this sounds wild. But if your anger won't leave you alone and you need it to, tell it why you need it to and try asking. The fact that this works is so dumb and weird but it fucking works, I'm not kidding around.
This does require being able to communicate with your emotions, though. After certain kinds of traumatic stress, your body might distance itself from your emotions and you might not be able to reach that, in which case you probably need more intensive intervention and maybe better advice.
