After working on this for a few weeks, I’m finally done with my Pocket Book of Basic Spell Correspondences!

This is a simple zine that outlines correspondences for herbs, crystals, the elements, etc to get you started on your spell work.

In making this zine, I hope to make more in-depth materials soon as well!

Held from 7-15 June, Vestalia is a sacred festival dedicated to Vesta, goddess of the hearth. Here are some ideas to celebrate each day, including their historical basis:

The 9th of June was the day the three most senior Vestal Virgins prepared mola salsa, a salt based cake offering, and presented it as an offering to Vesta. A recipe for mola salsa can be found here.

On the final day of Vestalia, festivities were concluded with a cleansing of the temple storehouse and sweeping of filth/debris. This was followed by the ritual disposal of sweepings into the Tiber. This was done to prepare for the upcoming harvest.

The final days of Vestalia are a great time to clean out your pantry, fridge, or freezer. Donate any unperishable, unexpired food items to a local shelter or food pantry. This is also a good time to do a floor cleansing, or a simple mundane sweep or vacuum around your home.

This is, as always, just my paradigm but the things that I consider when assessing a spell/ritual that I find in a book or on the internet are as follows:

What ACTION does the spell seek to have and what ACTION is performed as a part of the spell? Are they in alignment with one another?

Do all of the components of the spell seem like they could get along and work together?

Has the writer explained WHY they are using what they are using? Does it need an explanation? (I don't consider "because they are all prosperity herbs, duh" to be a sufficient explanation)

Does this magic require a certain belief system and, if so, do I agree with it?

Does the way this magic works contradict in any with how I believe magic works?

Do the symbols, representations, and correspondences in this spell make sense for me to use?

Does this make me feel uncomfortable in some way? Why?
