trying to explain why i love being aroace is like if love is the light spectrum romantic and sexual attraction are visible light and then every other possible kind of love is outside of the visible spectrum and it’s like. just wait till you guys find out about radio waves they’re actually really important in a lot of modern technology. same with x-rays and infrared. and if you guys knew where and how to look you’d actually see there’s way more light around you than you actually thought there was. you’ve trapped yourself in a fake box of what light is based on what you can see but if you try a little harder to look there’s so much more out there. visible light isn’t special just because it’s what you happen to be able to see, stars are made of all of it, every wavelength, visible light is just a fraction of their radiance. if you didn’t bother with visible light so much you’d be able to appreciate what light truly is so much better. just saying.
I think the worst part about being on the aro-ace spectrum is knowing you’ll probably never be anyone’s first choice. Like. I love my friends and I’d like to think they still love me, but compared to their partners (current or hypothetical future ones) I’ll always be at least second. And it’s fine, I don’t expect to be above someone who they love so much they want to spend the rest of their life with, but just knowing every allo person is a first choice to someone else and I never will be? ,,, kinda sucks,, :/

it's wild that there are so many people out there who a) advocate against slut shaming all the time, b) understand that aroace people have fulfilling platonic relationships bursting with love and closeness and c) understand that you can be asexual and alloromantic. but when they find out you are allosexual and aromatic they treat you like youre some heartless freak with committment issues who just can't let anyone in emotionally maybe if you just worked on yourself you could fix that???? and these are usually queer people themselves. On the one hand I am very sure that most drivers are aware to some extent of fanfic and some inkling of the shipping that goes along with it.
On the other teams should know better than to broach this subject with their actual drivers for content (I am aware they don't care they just want engagement but still)
The best thing to do in this instance is not to engage with the content on the platforms the team is posting on. If it's not rewarded with views and likes and interactions they will pivot tactics. The best thing you can do is ignore it.
And finally, do your part and keep rpf off of sites like twitter and tiktok etc.
Analyzing the politics of a work that's meant to be apolitical is actually a really interesting exercise because it asks you to critically examine what the creator considers to be "political" in the first place. Which ideas are just How Things Are, and which ones are Political, and how is that influenced by the creator's beliefs?
