Person who has never dealt with food allergies or medical food restrictions a day in their life: or this obviously gluten free thing says "Gluten Free" in big letters *laughs*
Funfact! Allergens can be in things that you would NEVER guess they would be in!! "Its because of diet culture that it says that in big letters though!" Yes. It is. But for people like me, the large branding saying "yes, this is dairy free" is helpful. Diet culture is inarguably harmful, don't get me wrong, but for those of us with food allergies, laughing about how "stupid" it is for something that is "obviously" gluten/dairy/nut/soy/etc free has that confirmed in big letters on the front is just mocking us. You are being ableist in your determination to fight against fad diets.
Wheat is a top 10 allergen. Dairy is a top 10 allergen. Celiac is one of the more common autoimmune disorders. Going forward, maybe ask yourself "is this box a diet food, or is it branding itself as an allergy safe food?"
Allergy safe foods tend to just get thrown together with the diet foods in supermarkets. Stop throwing chronically ill people or food allergy sufferers under the bus in the name of fighting diet culture- we're your allies too. Eating disorders in chronic illness and food allergy spaces are extremely common, but you're throwing us out.
I just saw Zootopia 2 and I love it so much, it was a really good movie and I definitely recommend going to see it! One part stuck out to me in particular however. Gary's anti-venom pen. As someone that has multiple allergies and has to carry epinephrine on them all the time, I thought that it was really cute.

While allergies aren't necessarily a disability (one could argue they are or not, I personally consider them to be) there's barely any allergy representation, especially when it involves things like EpiPens. Charecters in media often have peanut allergies but the amount of representation shown with them is often few and short lived if any. Arthur is a really good example of how to correctly write a charecter with allergies and I definitely recommend that you check it out if you have the time. Arthur is a rare occurrence unfortunately, with most media charecters with allergies (which are only ever nut allergies) only are written to have them so a joke can be made (cough cough, meet the Robinsons)
In Zootopia, Gary the snake has a "Anti-venom" pen and while this might not seem to mean anything, it's a direct callout to EpiPens/Auvi-Qs
While you can see the resemblance between Gary's "Anti-venom" pen and the EpiPens, EpiPens don't have an automated voice, however Auvi-Qs do. Auvi-Qs give verbal instructions on how to administer, much like how Gary's "Anti-venom" pen.
Also, Gary is seen throughout the film to be wearing a fanny pack where he keeps his "Anti-venom" pen. Most people with severe allergies often carry a purse or bag around that they keep their epinephrine in so they can have easy access to it. (When I was little, I kept my EpiPens in a fanny pack and had to wear it everywhere so this really his close to home for me).
So why am I ranting about this? Because Zootopia 2 displayed the EpiPen in such a positive light. It wasn't something that the charecters were afraid of or bullied Gary for carrying because he was being over cautious. The EpiPen was actually one of the heros in the movie. Judy would've died without it. It wasn't something to be feared or something that had the main focus of the movie, it was just something that was there.
Representation matters. When a kid feels like they're the only person that has to carry their meds around with them they'll feel othered. Something as simple as a blue cartoon snake carrying his fanny pack with his meds in it around is enough to make kids with allergies feel like they're not alone. That scene where Judy is saved by Gary's "Anti-venom" pen is only possible because he was prepared and had his meds with him. This small part of the storyline can be associated with allergies really easily and help kids and even adults understand why they need to carry their meds with them.

FIGHT FOR THE FUTURE - Stop surveillance in LGBTQ+ venues
Did you know that at least three gay bars in San Francisco are using dystopian face-scanning technology on their patrons?1
That means that businesses that claim to foster safety and community are building secret, unaccountable lists of everyone who walks through their doors—during an enormous wave of political persecution against queer and trans people.
Bars say facial recognition makes people safer. That is an utter lie. Take action ASAP to tell these businesses to keep creepy biometric surveillance out of our queer spaces:
TAKE ACTION
Venues that use facial recognition to scan and track their visitors are, fundamentally, building lists of gender and sexual minorities and their allies. What’s just as scary: we have no idea how many LGBTQ+ spaces are using this tech, how long the data is stored, and who has access to it.
The spread of surveillance tech through LGBTQ+ venues is a crisis for our community.
Facial recognition is dangerous for everyone, but it carries special risks for queer and trans people. Certain states are already building databases of trans people.2 Other states and agencies are demanding trans people’s medical histories3 and other sensitive data.4 This, as powerful political figures push for our reeducation and eradication.
We’ve seen this movie before, and it does not end well. LGBTQ+ venues that use biometric surveillance technology, including facial recognition, must remove it, scrap the data, and apologize to their patrons. All others should commit to keeping their community safe by rejecting surveillance technology—now and forever.
Tell these businesses how you feel now, and share this action if you can.

it is of course easier to performatively ban children from social media than to do things like "actually challenge and regulate the abusive tactics tech companies use to extract people's data and money via social media" but if we did the second thing we wouldn't have any excuse to force people to use digital ID :(
This social media ban for under 16s and restriction for 16-17 year olds is absolutely dystopian by the way, and nobody asked for this. I'm all for reducing screentime and increasing safety but that is an individual responsibility and all this law is going to do is isolate teenagers, push them to less safe corners on the internet (e.g. unregulated forums,) and prevent them from accessing vital information on topics such as current events and mental health. Who on earth thought this would be a good idea
