The doubling of tribute numbers. The miscarried Abernathy twins. The Donner sisters who Haymitch carries a fascination for as consequence. Louella being replaced by Lou Lou, a name that only mimics the first half of her name, and a girl who matches her in appearance only. Tam Amberâs set of pins, one dropped down a well, the other discarded. The two versions of the games: the one that Haymitch remembers and the edited, falsified version of them without the real content. The two bags of gumdrops. The fraternal affection he feels for Louella and Lou Lou, the artificial twins, and Maysileeâs offer to be his sisterâthe second one she gives in the book. A bond with a real twin, both pairs healing the sisters he never did know. The split between what is natural and what is manufactured or forged, bonds that that grow on their own, or are forced into existance. And if the distinction makes any difference to the person it impacts.
i wanted to write a six of crows fanfic about the crows being responsible for the louvre heist (bc come on we all know it was them) but i hit the roadblock known as "how does one break into the louvre"
i dont even wanna hear it girly they already DID it so you can js kinda fudge the details, all you need is the cherrypicker and the scooters lmaooooooo
(but also PLEASE WRITE IT DO I WILL READ IT)
meanwhile has anybody broken into the vatican in the last 200 years? in the last 50 years even? honestly in terms of tech more like the last 10 years? i dont think so. im not actually sure, but i really don't think so
lmaoo fair enough ur dilemma is more dilemma-y than mine lol, maybe i'll actually start writing it instead of planning out the vibes in my head one of these days lmao
ok wait what if i said i apparently started writing a fanfic when i learned about the louvre heist that i completely forgot about
it's mostly kanej and tbh its all just a setup for kaz to propose to her so the actual heist isn't even actually that important but?? it'll be louvre heist inspired at least??
(ive honestly kinda forgotten pretty much everything about it but perhaps???? if youd be interested maybe ill try finishing it??)
ok wait sooo i found the opening scene i wrote and its a little rough lol but here's a little bit, let me know what u thinkk
stars by the pocketful
inej looks out over the edge of her ship, breathing in the clear, salty air and scanning the horizon for a glimpse of shore. for a glimpse of ketterdam.
her impatience gets the better of her. out here, she is famous for the calm that has gotten her and her crew out safely away from storms and skirmishes and even the occasional angry sea creature, and before that, had kept her alive in the barrel. now, though, it wavers, giving way to nervous excitement.
the last few years at sea have been amazing. she finally feels fulfilled, finally feels like sheâs making a difference. she loves falling asleep to the rocking of waves and waking every morning to the cool sea breeze. she loves the safety, ironic though it is that she feels safe when at any moment her ship might encounter a monster, might capsize, might be attacked. but inej has dealt with her share of monsters in the barrel, and she spent years treading water. if her ship is attacked, she knows that she can protect herself and her crew. the wraith will not go down without a fight. the knowledge that she is free and that she can keep herself safe is more than worth all the dangers of the sea. and every time they stop a slaver ship, every time they manage to free someone, she can feel her saints exhale in relief. she has loved it, all of it - the dangers, the storms, and the sunshine in between.
and of course, she will forever be grateful to kaz brekker for helping her find her purpose, teaching her how to protect herself, and giving her the closest thing to safety that there was in the barrel while she got stronger. for paying off her debts and buying her a ship and finding her parents and helping her leave once she was ready, even when she knows it must have cost him something to stand there on the port and watch her shipâs sails get smaller and smaller until they disappeared altogether. he was rough and difficult and all too often utterly insensitive, but she will be eternally grateful to him and all the help he has given her.Â
although she canât deny that gratitude isnât the only thing she feels when she thinks of him. canât deny that as soon as she sails into a foreign port, she is looking for a new hat to send to him. canât deny that she is always anticipating his letters, or that whenever one of them reaches her, a little glow of warmth sparks - especially when she thinks she can see bits of his heart peeking through. it seems like he is learning to let it out from all the layers of protection he had wrapped around it in an effort to keep it from getting more hurt than it already has been. it seems like he is trying to learn to take his armor off.
or maybe she was reading too much in between the lines.
she is happy, on this ship. she loves hunting slavers like the ones that took her and stole her childhood, and she loves getting to see a bit of the world while she does. she really does think she has found her purpose. it is quiet, most days at least, and she knows exactly where she belongs and who she is.
but none of this stops her from climbing up to the top of the crowâs nest and waiting eagerly for ketterdam to come into view.
she hadnât been happy when she was in ketterdam, not truly satisfied. but that had been because she lacked direction. the heart is an arrow. it demands aim to land true. but for all her lack of aim, sheâd known who she was when she was the wraith as well.
she has a direction, has found it on the sea, but nowâŚnow, she is realizing that a bit of her heart is still pointing towards ketterdam. towards the family she had found and the life she had demanded of it there.Â

This YouTube comment has been on my mind since I finished SOTR so this is what I came up with:
Lucy Gray was the mockingbird, living on the outskirts of district 12 and was there at the wrong time when they were forced to stay there after the Dark Days. They were subjected to the Capitolâs politics despite not being a part of Panem, technically speaking. Lucy Gray became part of the Games and, likewise, the mockingbird became affiliated with the Capitol through the jabberjayâs release into the woods, but it still continued to sing its own song.
Haymitch was the jabberjay, a Capitol tool that did what it had to in order to survive. The Capitol thought they could control them, but they retaliated in the form of rebellion. Haymitch refused to be a piece in their game and tried to end it, and the jabberjay, in the eyes of the Capitol, created a freak of nature that showed the Capitolâs lack of complete control.
Katniss was the mockingjay, a slap in the face of the Capitol, something that was never meant to exist. Together, the song of the mockingbird that lived on for generations and the stubbornness of the jabberjay that refused to die, the mockingjay had the best of both worlds. It was a symbol of rebellion and unity.
so after being way too late to reading sunrise on the reaping and bawling my eyes out while doing soâŚ
the more i read this book, the more sad Catching Fire became. itâs 10x more reasonable why haymitch would always look at katniss with a knowing smile while she chose her victor allies. itâs because of how alike they are and because he once saw them as his own allies.
itâs the fact that magsâ death in CF was probably SO HURTFUL for haymitch to watch because she grandmaâd him so much during his games even though she wasnât even from 12.
beetee watching his SON go through the games while heâs trying to use the arenaâs power against the capitol only to fail on the 50th hunger games but win 25 years later after his son is already gone.

also I love that suzanne wrote katniss and haymitch in first person pov but with coryo she was like âthird person for you⌠you get some distance, creep.â
