i lowkey think capital n capital c Neurodivergent Culture is kind of toxic in that like i do think being proud of being autistic is great but acting like masking or doing anything challenging at all is like an evil betrayal is just ridiculous and sort of doesn’t do autistic people any favors … like all the ppl i know who buy into the fact that you should never ever have to learn a social skill or adapt to societal expectations or challenge their own discomfort ever genuinely struggle more than people who haven’t bought into that

like sometimes you do have to learn how to be in society a little even if it doesn’t come as naturally to you as to other people. and that is not betraying your autisticness
