besides my life, frank wants my virginity. we all do. if only i’d known.
we simply don’t talk about Roy being a child athlete enough. I know there’s less emphasis on it in canon than for Dick but it really is so important to me. That boy was at least semi-well known, at least in a local scene. I don’t remember if it’s elaborated on what level he was at but competitions where Green Arrow’s stopping by and sabotage is something worth doing says to me it’s serious. He was canonically not well-off living with Brave Bow, do you think he was competing for prize money? Enough to make him a source of income?
He’s going to be in the Olympics….

How to look for indie comics from Black creators!
As you may know, there was recently a DC Comics boycott as a part of the DCSoWhite movement since DC has not had a mainline ongoing solo with a Black lead for over 1200 days. You can read more about this here, here, here, and here. The boycott has been cancelled (link), but that doesn't mean we can't still show support for Black comic creators!
One of the things the movement called for fans to do was to "[Support] Black creators through independent and creator-owned projects." So this post is meant to provide tips on how to do this.
Check out other works of Black creators you're already familiar with
The Black comic creators you're already a fan of who have made comics for DC or Marvel have likely also made comics for other publishers too. You can usually find out about other comics they've worked on through their Wikipedia page, social media pages, and their own website if they have one. And it's a good idea to follow their social media to learn about any of their projects in the future!
Look through indie publisher websites
A great way to find out about indie comics is to check out indie publishers' websites. There will almost always be a page on their websites with all their comics so you can easily look through them and the creators will be listed so you can look into the creators too. This is one way to find out about Black comic creators who you might not already be familiar with.
The publishers that are listed as examples in the webpages linked above are Image Comics, BOOM! Studios, Vault Comics, Ignition Press, and Stranger Comics.
Check out existing lists
There are already lists online that specifically recommend Black creators to check out and comics by Black creators. You can also find recommendations and lists on social media. This is another great way to find out about Black comic creators you're not yet familiar with.
Speaking of lists, I would like to point you to this post by @bimboopo which includes a list of many Black webtoon creators which you can go check out!
Hopefully this guide will help people find out about more comics by Black creators. Support these creators by reading, buying, and talking about their comics. And even if the boycott is over, still make sure to sign the petition.

lets take the hair straightener away from dc.
lets remove the teen titans cartoon from everyone's memory.
timothy the teetotaler kills me. hes a DARE kid. dumping out his roommates alcohol and threatens to get him expelled. i know he acts like someones pulled a gun whenever they take out a joint and it will never not be funny. his idol is dick "lets all try cocaine!" grayson.
i know dick saw tim very gingerly pick up a dime bag o'weed one time like with his very fingertips trying not to touch The Substance Itself inside of the bag and was like Oh i cannot speak of my life
and tim'll get better but he's never gonna not be weird. its not helped that the one time he tried weed he had a panic attack and had to breathe into a paper bag for like 4 hours until he passed out. its hard to be weed normal when weed makes you abnormal.
i know the reveal to tim is totally accidental and like reflexive it's probably dick's thing where he id's drugs by tasting them they're on some kind of bust or recon mission and tim's like hey... do you think this is cocaine or heroin? and dicks like 'thats coke for sure lemme see' and just sticks his finger in there and puts it in his mouth and tims like. NIGHTWING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and then they look at each other in silent horror for like 10 seconds before dick's like. '...its cocaine.'
tims trying to get him to leslies hes like COCAINE CAN GIVE YOU A HEART ATTACK THE SECOND IT HITS YOUR BLOODSTREAM ARE YOU HAVING A HEART ATTACK DO WE NEED TO GO TO THE CLINIC and dick is trying to deescalate the situation before tim tells bruce and ruins dick's entire year and keeps making it worse. robin this amount of cocaine will not kill me ive done way more cocaine than that "YOU WHAT!" it's barely even a kick i promise "YOURE ADDICTED TO COCAINE??" NO i just- i dont- it's been- at parties- "WHAT KIND OF PARTIES ARE YOU GOING TO????" NORMAL ONES.

people will call them discrimination comics as the punchline to a joke and then when a boycott comes around in an attempt to rectify said discrimination they’ll shut them down in 3 days for not being specific enough instead of using their own initiative and then go back to calling them discrimination comics and not reading for any black characters/characters of colour ever
you've met me at a very "yeah i'm trying to work on that" time in my life
when you're at a point where you're publishing comics with worse, less substantial representation of black characters than you were in the 90s or 2000s, i feel like, and now maybe this is crazy, but i feel like maybe you should at least acknowledge that you have an issue
