The problem with Jay-Jon-Nia's writing is that Nicole Maines did her job perfectly. She did exactly what you need to do as a comic writer:
Respect and be consistent with previous material
Progress the story
Introduce new conflicts while progressing or resolving previous ones
Leave it open for the next writers to go "and then this happened"
By all means, she has done what even the "celebrated" authors STRUGGLE to accomplish in like, 8 issues. The problem is DC fucking comics as a whole deciding they don't like to read their own comics or actually invest in their characters.
It is genuinely insane how well she set things up for EVERY character she wrote for and absolutely no one has picked up and ran. Dan Slott, kinda, but Brombal is fucking it up so bad for EVERY character on the Titans run but especially Jon. No one cares about random yaoi man, follow through on the set-up for Jon!
Someone other than Nicole pick up Nia and Jay!!!! They're interesting, Nicole is handing GOLD to you and you are fighting to write another mediocre Batman story!
