we’re always quick to talk about luther’s development with his siblings, which is important, but his more carefree attitude is also part of his development, because he’s not trying to be number one anymore, he’s not trying to reclaim some title back from the sparrows. he literally just wants to live his life, be part of his family, make friends, stop fighting, and just figure out who luther is.  not number one, not his family’s leader, not his father’s loyal soldier, luther.

It really does make you wonder how Reginald works. He clearly loved and cared about his wife back on his home planet… Why can’t he afford the same genuine love for his children?

The act of saving him is such a moment because yes he did mean to save him, but he used something that he didn’t know what it would do (presumably) and when it didn’t turn out right he didn’t just send Luther away, he sent him somewhere where he was still entirely dependent on Reggie.

Reginald cared for Luther as a weapon, not as a son or as a friend. And he made that clear in his conversation with Klaus when he expresses disappointment that Luther found out he was sent to the moon for no reason — he’s not disappointed because Luther is upset, he’s disappointed because his manipulative hold has fractured.  He saved his life because he needed to keep his loyal soldier, not because he thought he was doing right by Luther. And taking away his agency and forcing a body alteration without Luther’s consent, one that he is clearly mentally and physically still struggling with, is not “saving him”— Luther finally coming to terms with that throughout season 1 is so important and so necessary for his growth.
