The Saint Of Dust
Episode 15:
The Emperor's Return to Earth
The thunderous, rhythmic snoring that had echoed across the veranda for hours finally ceased with a sharp, snorting intake of breath. Master Jalal stirred in his heavy wooden armchair. A low, rumbling groan vibrated deep within his chest as his heavy eyelids fluttered open, adjusting to the fading light of the courtyard.
He did not immediately move. He simply sat there, a 130-kilogram mountain of flesh letting the fog of sleep slowly dissipate. Then, with agonizing deliberation, Jalal engaged his thick muscles and lifted his massive, heavy legs.
The crushing weight that had pinned Farhan to the floor for hours abruptly vanished. The eighteen-year-old caretaker let out a microscopic, trembling exhale. His spine screamed in silent, burning agony, and his shoulders ached profoundly, but he did not dare rub his back or show a single wince of pain. The moment the headmaster's heels lifted, Farhan pivoted seamlessly, shifting from his rigid position on all fours to a kneeling posture on the cool, polished tiles.
Jalal let his bare feet drop heavily to the floor. He looked down at the boy kneeling before him, a slow, immensely arrogant smile spreading across his youthful, clean-shaven face.
"A truly magnificent rest," Jalal drawled, his voice thick with sleep and dripping with condescension. He stretched his thick, entirely smooth arms, his ringless hands gripping the ends of the armrests. "The absolute silence of this house, combined with such a... steadfast foundation. I enjoyed it immensely, Farhan. You served your purpose perfectly."
"It is my only joy to provide you rest, Master Ji," Farhan replied instantly. His voice was slightly hoarse, but his tone remained hopelessly, terrifyingly devoted.
Without needing another command, Farhan moved to complete the transition from slumber to waking. He reached over to where Jalal's heavy brown leather sandals had been discarded earlier that afternoon.
Still seated deeply in the groaning armchair, his tight white undershirt stretched taut over the vast, imposing shelf of his stomach, Jalal simply watched. His wire-rimmed glasses rested forgotten on his chest, caught in the fabric of his shirt. He leaned his heavy head forward slightly, his severe, chubby face casting a shadow over the boy. He did not lean down to help; a king does not dress himself.
Farhan picked up the right sandal. With extreme, practiced care, he cupped the headmaster’s thick, pale ankle with one hand. With the other, he gently guided the wide, heavy foot into the leather straps. He smoothed his thumbs over the top of Jalal's foot, ensuring the leather didn't pinch and the fit was absolutely perfect, sparing his master the unimaginable indignity of bending forward a single inch.
Jalal let out a soft, dismissive breath, his eyes fixed on the top of Farhan's head. The boy's hands were calloused from servitude, while Jalal's own flesh remained pristine and unbothered by the harshness of the world. It was a beautiful, confirming contrast. The nap was over, but his absolute reign over the evening had just begun.
