living in a city that is like 80% south asian and the centre of distribution/warehouses/trucking for this part of the country and so deeply maligned by every government authority at every level because of classism + racism is such a crazy experience. so it's been common practice for the last like 10~ years here for pharmacies and walmart to lock up baby formula in those glass cases as like an "anti theft" measure, all the grocery stores in my city have started doing that with fucking ghee. they have glass cases full of tubs of ghee and you have to ask a worker to unlock the ghee case for you. you need permission to buy ghee, the main cooking oil that most people in this city use
