I recently watched this video by hydn called “The Great Concussion Denial” and holy fucking shit. Made me sick to my stomach. The tldr is that it’s all the NFL pushing football on kids but that’s really diluting the story

#my partner's childhood/high school friend speaks to none of their friend group anymore because #he had so many concussions that his personality changed #he's a completely different person #and that's just from soccer not football #like they see each other around town and he refuses to acknowledge any of them

between staying at the hospital for six days (and doing another week-long stay next week) not being able to work, and having used all my PTO and vacation time for the entire year, i am kinda broke. my partner keeps telling me i need a new phone (maybe true, mine is pretty old and does not hold charge) and a smart watch to potentially detect seizures, but i don't think that is happening anytime soon.

also they might operate on my brain. i have a feeling that will also be kinda expensive.

I think one of the funniest abortion stances I've heard was from my parents neighbor. He's a like, hard-core libertarian viking larper guy who is very tall and very fat and very bald.

He believes a fetus is human with a soul, but also its "basically attacking the woman's body" so if she wants to get rid of it, that's "basically self-defense". He compared it to shooting a home invader. So he supports abortion not as healthcare, but as killing a baby in self-defense

spent about 4 hours getting the EEG glue out of my hair and i think i'll still need to do it all again at least one more time, but i'll get to have clean hair for six days! not looking forward to restarting the process in two weeks tho

What makes this exceptionally transmysoginistic is that trans women are expected to engage with this criticism like its actually about inclusivity, and not just boring ass regular laughed-out-of-the-room misogyny.

i wish i knew how to convince everyone online that the only way to stop what is happening and prevent it from happening again is to engage in an extremely serious, generational political project that operates outside of any specific issue or identity and will require extraordinary discipline, working alongside people you don't understand or even actively dislike, and building a vision of what power for good actually looks like rather than what it doesn't look like but i don't know how to convince people of that and i don't believe in social media activism with the types of platform i personally have as an effective lever for change so here we are

#change will be uncomfortable at the least but so many people seem to think discomfort=oppression #and by so many people i mean those of us with privilege #like not only do you need to 'give up' getting the newest tech #but also (for the global north) things like bananas #our little treats come at the expense of people's LIVES
