I have a hard time even writing a sentence because i know what good writing looks like so i cringe.. Ive been at it for 4? Months now. Kinda new ill give myself that and i do notice some things being better but its the stupid perfectionism plague i guess.

Firstly I wanna say thank you! I'm glad you enjoy my writing! :D <3 That's so nice to hear!

Also, I just wanna tell you and I mean this as nicely as possible... 4 months is not that long. You're just beginning and you're allowed to be 'bad'. In the wise words of Jake the Dog:

“Dude, suckin’ at something is the first step to being sorta good at something.”

So you just have to write even though you feel like it's trash. I've been writing since I was in middle school. And listen. When I was in middle school writing about my ocs, I thought I was gay werewolf Shakespeare. Looking back on those old works now... I realize I was in fact hot garbage lmao BUT that's what starting out is for. Like anything else you just have to practice. And I know how annoying that is to hear but you don't get better over night.

Also. I don't think the feeling of inadequacy ever really... goes away? Certainly hasn't for me. But you just have to try anyway and you WILL get better, it honest to god just takes time and patience and practice.

Perfectionism is also my curse. (Which is why I've been scared to post anything for a long, long time. It's just not good enough! It'll never be good enough! TwT) But I'm trying— and failing, teehee— to get over that. (Seriously. I've been known to get stuck on the same sentence for hours or days. Or weeks... </3 You can ask my sibling, they're here for all my insanity.)

Ahh. Okay, now that I've said all that. I have some shit for you so buckle up and take notes! >:3

4thewords is where I write. It makes writing into a game where you fight monsters (by writing a certain amount of words within a time limit, the amounts/times vary with each type of monster) and you have to complete quests. It makes it fun and has a daily streak counter where you shoot for writing 444 words per day, to build up the habit of writing! It's a nice challenge and I highly recommend the site, especially because there is a free tier now. The free tier is a bit limited (for instance you can fight a smaller amount of monsters per day and only have 10 documents going at a time) BUT I used it for months before swapping to the cheapest paid plan. Just had to shuffle docs around sometimes.

Ellipsus is where I keep my writing. It's a real good googledocs alternative. There's no app for it, but it works just fine in Firefox mobile! And you can add it to your homescreen if you like. It's got lots of cool themes and some really cool features that I don't really use. :') But I like it!

Onestopforwriters is amazing. There's so many good resources on there! You have to sign up for a free account and it's limited to two weeks and only viewing 50 entries before they ask you to subscribe to the site, which sucks, but it's still so fucking helpful. And you can always like... screenshot the pages you think you'll need for later use. ;) The people in charge of this site actually MADE the next thing I'm gonna recommend and some of it is on the site! I'm really just mentioning OneStop is because it's free, for a while.

The Emotion Thesaurus by is a fucking god send and I'm not even joking. I struggle so hard writing body language sometimes but with this book you just. Choose whatever emotion you need to portray and it gives you SO many examples of body language and ways to show, rather than tell, how your character is feeling!
