I believe deep in my bones that Ilya and Shane both indulge in private romantic fantasies but they're polar opposites. Ilya is daydreaming about kissing under the stars and holding hands and wearing each other's hoodies while traveling the world together. Meanwhile Shane has constructed an elaborate cohesive ongoing narrative where he single-handedly saves Ilya from certain death. In his daydreams that man is running into burning buildings, escaping tsunamis, taking down shooters, and fighting stalkers. He's walking through hurricanes, wrestling wild animals, and engaging in deadly highspeed car chases. Just the most insane intense shit you can imagine. And Ilya is lying there next to him like Yay I love cuddling my boring husband :) while Shane vividly fantasizes about Ilya calling him a smart good brave boy for saving him from psychological thriller villains. Do u see the vision. Because Shane does.

Shane comes home from an early morning run to find Ilya standing in their kitchen by the stovetop, chest bare, low slung grey sweatpants on, his tangle of curls still rumpled from sleep, just absentmindedly poking at an egg white omelette in a sizzling frying pan while illuminated by sunlight streaming through the windows. Shane is just standing there frozen when Ilya glances up and catches sight of him in the doorway and just,,, grins, eyes crinkling, always so pleased to see him, "Good morning, moya lyubov. Breakfast is almost-" but Ilya doesn't finish his sentence because suddenly Shane is throwing himself across the room and into Ilya's slightly startled arms and then they're just kissing and Shane doesn't even care that he probably reeks with sweat, he doesn't care because he feels absolutely frantic with love for this wonderful lovely gorgeous man he married (married!!! They're married!!!) and Ilya is laughing into the kiss, more than likely at Shane for his eagerness, but Shane doesn't care, he can't care because he's kissing his husband (his husband!!! HIS!!) and they're definitely going to fuck in this kitchen and Shane is near crazed with happiness, he feels almost sick with it
