tumblr users as a whole believe russians are subhumans, except for “queer russians” [rhetorical concept], who are just a cut above the rest (unless we don’t think our country should be nuclear bombed for having anti trans & anti gay laws, at which point we become “traitors” to the non existent queer community & deserving of extermination)

yk my parents used to dislike homosexuality because the bible & quran told them to, not the best situation, but workable. & now they hate homosexuality because all they constantly see is western political leaders & human rights activists shouting about how much of a degenerate & barbarian country russia is for having anti gay laws, that, on a global scale, aren’t even that unusual. that’s not to mention the fact that so many local lgbt organisations in russia were imported from the west & played a part in russian nationalist anti government activities. they saw rainbow flags being waved at navalny rallies, which more effectively turned them anti gay then any religious sermon could. so you know before i had to try and dislodge some religious prejudice from two ex soviets (not the hardest job!) & now if i ever come out as a lesbian to them they will probably assume im a traitor to our people & our country, because the people who supposedly “advocate” for me also usually believe my parents are undeserving of life for the crime of being born russian. i can’t even blame them

just saw a pigeon doing the puffed up courtship dance thing to another pigeon, and as he was strutting around he suddenly stopped for a split second to do a very brief preen-peck at his own side, then returned to the strutting around. and i surprised myself by instantly losing respect for the male pigeon in that moment, like come on man i appreciate you had an itch or whatever but how is she supposed to feel special when you're getting distracted by bullshit like that? which on reflection i don't endorse, i mean those are pretty harsh dating norms i'm imposing on these pigeons, from a total outsider perspective, for no reason. probably not all girl pigeons are as uptight about that sort of thing as i would apparently be if i was a girl pigeon, maybe she even found it endearing who knows, i don't know her. it's none of my business really. sorry pigeons.

I love how the main line of argument seems to be colorist koreans in their feelings going "well go and enjoy your dark skin since it looks so good" as a backhanded thing and brazilians going "???? yeah we know it looks good, that's what we're saying"
