Q: who are you and why do i follow you?
A: we were previously @/marsti (and @/thebreeoche even longer ago), we changed our url + icon so we wouldn't be matching with our ex anymore. you probably follow us because we make art good.
Q: what do you use to make art?
A: we use clip studio paint pro 3.0, and a wacom intuos medium for all our digital art. the brushes we use are very inconsistent and mostly depend on vibes. for pixel art, we use this dithering set. all our art is coloured using custom gradient maps.
when we were homeless we used ibis paint on our phone with our fingers to draw. sometimes a friend let us use his tablet that had krita on it.
Q: what is [creative thing you're working on] and where can i engage with it?
A: only our webcomic, TRY AGAIN, is currently available publicly. update schedule: very infrequent.
antagonist syndrome, how to fracture noise, and running away on a treadmill are the english titles for the short stories we're writing, featuring the characters of dima, julie, and wave. we are writing them in french and have no idea if we'll ever make them public but we like talking about them.

A: we believe intellectual property is antithetical to creativity and art as a whole, and so our policy is no policy. our art is free to use by anyone for any purpose. use it for banners, icons, reference it, edit it, trace it, repost it, we don't care.

saw a post panicking about how quickly AI can scrape your blog to give people sensitive information about you, googled my blog on a whim to see if it was something I needed to be actively anxious about, and uh. I am not so sure it's actually good enough at what it does for me or most small bloggers (less than 10k followers) to warrant any worry. Especially because it seems like it randomly generates information on you each time, so everyone who googles you gets told something completely different and extremely wrong in whole new ways. Case in point:
Google: "Who-is-Page? Sometimes I can still hear his voice..."
Google: "Oh yeah, that blogger is... -looks at smudged ink on hand- uh...artist Kate Allan?"
It also claimed I was an expert on AO3 discourse and had developed infographics related to the Homestuck fandom's tagging system (which I haven't even read), assigned random pictures of dudes as "me" (specifically pics of POC guys in sunglasses and in cars?), and said that I'm actually secretly user and artist IsPage running this as a sideblog (what). So basically if you've seen that post going around, I wouldn't be too terrified or start spiraling about it unless you see that AI has somehow scraped your legal name or address... Because it is phenomenally bad at what it does.

a lot of people seem able to understand and accept that bots are producing content/comments to manipulate algorithms etc but have a harder time intuiting that the likes and engagement they see on real content is also plausibly bot driven to manipulate algorithms or simply as a side effect of attempting to mimic "real" behaviour. a lot of stuff inexplicably popular in the algorithm may simply be popular because bots prefer it rather than people!

for anyone reading this who hasn't seen it and needs a pitch, basically this movie is not not about things. like yeah obviously hedwig is a trans woman but if you say "hedwig is a trans woman" you just don't understand like, anything. and it's a movie about gender but also if you say "it's a movie about gender" i'm just assuming all your opinions are shit. mostly it's just about abusive relationships and being sad and it's not actually that deep but anyone who says "it's not actually that deep" should be shot on sight. and yeah in the end it's a movie about love but if someone tells you "it's a movie about love" just know they're lying to you. hope this helps.
also this movie's existence is literally the reason why i refuse to engage with rocky horror discourse seriously.
because i simply do not believe any of the people complaining about it are aware of a SINGLE other piece of queer cinema or theatre. i think they just want to complain about teens.
we KNOW rocky horror is transphobic and made by a bigender transfemme gender essentialist, which really just proves identity doesn't prevent anyone from simply being fucking stupid. we've been saying and hearing it for years. it's basically a mantra at this point.
but it is also very well-known so it might literally just be the only musical someone knows that openly plays with gender, and importantly it's definitely not rent which is most likely the other one they know about. nobody likes rent. it's bleak and boring and so up its own ass it's coming out the mouth. rocky horror is fun.
so, really, if you were trying to point these kids in the right direction you would just be recommending the hedwig and the angry inch movie. it is literally just another high energy fun rock musical about a transfeminized genderfucked character being an unhinged problematic diva for an hour and a half, except this one is good and actually treats this character as a person. but that's not what happens, because nobody doing rocky horror discourse actually cares about historical queer art.
so forgive me when i roll my eyes seeing yet another 22 year old drag a 15 year old through the mud on social media for the crime of liking a musical from the 70s. i don't believe for a second it comes from any other place than a desire to enact cruelty.
no truest test of your ability to simply trust the process has or will ever be invented because fabric lining always feels like you're doing it wrong for 99% of it and then at the last 1% you realise you were actually doing it perfectly right the entire time and you kinda just feel insane for worrying in the first place
