the archival value of alchemised as a snapshot of serially published amateur transformative speculative fiction from the early 21st century is incredible. it is a perfect example of exactly that. it is a terrible example of the banger tradpub sff thriller the plot could have been, but the author was never writing one of those. different medium entirely
the existence of this text as like a special edition hardcopy with fancy edges is an incredible gift to video essayists of the 2200s

i'm so annoyed at so many tiny bits in this ("the opposite end of the coin" "pressed several fingers against [her] forehead" "always been prone to being still" "after a week, growing uncomfortably sweaty" "intrinsic in" "at a loose end") that it's almost turning fun again
I wanted to use what βreachβ I may have here to share the Carolina Wildlife Centerβs urgent plea for donations. If they are unable to raise $75,000 to cover ongoing and future care of their wildlife patients, the center will have to close July 20th, 2026. The services provided by CWC to the community are incredibly valuable, and without them, many wild animals will suffer without the care they need.
