& like to be a snob it's fascinating to me on a ~craft level to pinpoint why specific mechanics function in fic but not in standalone original work, & i'd say "& vice versa" here if i had a single example of a mechanic that functions in original fiction but not in transformative work but i don't. have an example. what i have is 200 pages of shortcuts & a headache
