I have heard of black people warning their kids that the race of a police officer is cop and you should not expect solidarity from them. The same applies to other types of minorities.

When you become the enforcer and protector of capital, you are making the deal to be slightly favored by the system over others like you, in exchange for being its servant. Your solidarity is with the system that you serve, even if it hates you.

What pisses me off the most is that y'all don't keep this doomerism to yourself, it would be one thing if you just wrote this shit in a diary, but y'all are putting that out there trying to scare young trans people into being divided. spreading the idea that trans unity is an "unobtainable fantasy" only serves to make trans people feel even more alone and desperate than before, during a time where being united will give us strength.
Trans people should be encouraged to find safety and community in one another, and not just with trans people that are "like them."
What's so unobtainable about it like literally just don't be a jerk to trans people who aren't your gender. It's not hard. I go around not being a jerk to people who are slightly different to me every single day. "Oooh we share so many common struggles and the things that help us help all of us, but I experience some things they don't and they experience some things I don't and therefore we must fight each other to the death and that'll help us somehow" these people need to grow the fuck up and stop believing in cooties.

I discovered this because we discussed it in context of a March 2023 botulism outbreak across 5 different European countries, resulting from incorrect botox injection, where the botulinum neurotoxin was injected into patients' bloodstreams instead of the stomach muscles.

ME: I am aware of that. So, can you do me a HUGE favor and look up my prescription history really quickly and tell me how many SSRIs and SNRIs were only filled once in 2022 for me, showing they were poorly tolerated?
DOC: It looks like eight.
ME: Great job! Now, can you please look at my genetic test for psychiatric drug tolerance and tell me how many medications are listed in the safe category?
DOC: Two.
ME: Awesome! Now, can you tell me what type that other drug is that I'm not taking?
DOC: Yeah, totally, it's an MAOI.
ME: That's correct, you're really knowledgeable! Should I be taking something as dangerous as an MAOI with my other medications, or even just in general?
DOC: It's contraindicated for sure.
ME: It is! So true! So, last question since you've been incredibly smart and helpful. You literally have to understand that ur closest friends and loved ones may very well have kinks or fetishes that gross or freak you out and they simply won’t tell you because they know it grosses or freaks you out. minor detail i love about leverage: parker can appear & disappear at will with no rational explanation, but ONLY when it’s played for comedy. in more tense and dramatic scenes, she has to have a known entrance or exit strategy as part of the overall heist plan. it’s like she has the ability to teleport but it’s powered by comedic timing lol.
@mymoonmyconnie okay this is such a good point i just wanted to highlight it! this is the commentary on the zanzibar marketplace job (incredibly good memory, by the way):
so it was originally unintentional but it makes sense. usually you need to show how a character can do something difficult - like getting into a supposedly secure room - because otherwise it’ll feel like a deus ex machina and a plot hole. but with parker, it’s well and truly established that she can get into anywhere. repeatedly showing how she does it would just be unnecessary after a while. so only occasionally will we actually see her getting into a room, usually when it’s a particularly interesting & difficult entrance strategy (eg the ice man job, because the process of figuring out how to open the door is integral to the plot). most of the time she just appears. sometimes it’s used as a joke, sometimes you don’t even notice, but it’s a fun little consistent detail that i think helps make her character feel whole and distinct to the audience.
(and for any audience members who might’ve still found it implausible, they lampshaded it in the mile high job, when even nate and eliot are confused about how she does it. in nate’s words, "i don’t even ask anymore" lol.)
