I don't see them as a couple who get married and have children, but they definitely have a certain connection. a love that doesn't need to materialize because they are both satisfied with what they have, besides to understanding the circumstances that would make a romance impossible (Emily and Alastor would definitely have an existential crisis if they thought of each other in a romantic way). But, something platonic would be perfect.
