Time is running out. My wife's life is in danger. This is not an exaggeration. It is the reality we are living every single day. Doctors have confirmed that my wife's condition is getting worse because of severe vitamin deficiencies and malnutrition. Her body can no longer endure any more delays. Sadly, this will be the third surgery she has to undergo, and her exhausted body can no longer bear more pain or more waiting. She urgently needs treatment and surgery, and every day without support puts her life at even greater risk. I stand beside her feeling completely helpless, watching the woman I love grow weaker day after day while I desperately search for a way to save her. If you are reading these words, please don't scroll past them. Your donation, no matter how small, could give my wife a chance to survive. If you cannot donate, please share our story. It may reach the one person who can help save her life. Please don't let time run out before my wife gets her chance to survive. Vetted by GazaVetter #520

listen iâm pretty strong emotionally and i can probably handle a lot more than the average person can when it comes to shit like that but sometimes something small will strike me inexplicably and iâll suddenly have the same paper-thin composure i had when i was nine and people kept telling me to stop crying and grow up. like last night my cat brought another mouse in through the hole in the screen door and usually when she sets them down i can fawn over how fast and scary she is while i gingerly pick them up and set them back outside, because usually theyâre terrified but otherwise unharmed, but this time i was in the middle of cooking and didnât manage to get to it before it got over its shock and disappeared under the couch. and neither of my cats can get under there, and any mouse would know that, really, so there was no chance it would come back out, so i had to tell my mother and she came down with a pack of mousetraps. she opened them and had me help her set one up (she stuck the handle of a dirty fork into my jar of peanut butter. irrelevant but continues to perplex me. what the hell mom. my peanut butter). i didnât want to put it out right away because it had only been half an hour and one of the cats might catch it again and then the problem would be solved, but even though i have my own space itâs still in my motherâs house and she wasnât about to let mice run around freely. she reminded me that traps kill almost instantly as she stuck it under the cabinet in my living room, near the couch, and i tried to forget about it.
the trap went off while i was folding laundry in the next room. it was louder than i thought it would be, so it must have been like a gunshot to littler ears. everything seemed quieter in the moment right afterwards. and i didnât want to but i got down on the floor in my living room anyway and shone my flashlight under the cabinet, and sure enough the trap had not gotten the mouse by the neck but instead had snapped shut on a hind leg, grotesquely twisted up and over in a way that would surely be fatal after a while, and little black eyes stared right at me like it knew i had done this, and a spot on the top of its head pulsed with its heartbeat, hinting at an even more sinister injury that was invisible to me. i called my mom down and she used a paper plate and a piece of cardboard to drag it out because she didnât want to see itâwhat a privilege it is to not have to look the things we hurt in the eyeâand it started squeaking right when she was trying to get all of that into a plastic bag, shock wearing off for the second time in only a few hours. i wiped a tiny red handprint off the floor and my mom took the mouse outside to drown it.
i keep thinking about bones smaller than toothpicks and even easier to snap, and about beady black eyes that had never seen blood before, teenage boys broken and bleeding while their lungs fill up with water, thousands of mice that probably die exactly like this. i think about snap traps and glue traps and poison and how nobody ever has catch traps, because people would rather deal with blood and guts than run the risk of a released pest returning, and about how that tiny thing might still be running through the grass now if i had been a few seconds faster finding a place to set the spatula down. and inevitably someone will say this is why you have to keep your cats inside and to that i say first of all, it wasnât even hurt when she brought it in, they never are, she just wanted to show me, and secondly, you try keeping former barn cats inside, itâs impossible; at least if i allow them out theyâre willing to stay where i can see them. theyâre the ones that are kind enough to play and release. weâre the ones that kill without reason and then throw out the bodies after. but i patched up the hole in the screen door with cardboard so now they canât come back in without knocking, per se. that should keep live mice out for a while. but thereâs still a tiny spray of blood under the cabinet in the living room, too inconvenient a place to clean, and so it will remain there long after everyoneâs forgotten where it came from. i keep tearing up at my desk over this damn mouse. on my way home from work i will stop and buy catch traps, and when i get home iâm tossing the rest of the snap traps away. i donât care. or maybe i care too much. too sensitive. grow up.
this morning at 8am sharp in the fucking morning she brought in a fucking CHIPMUNK that was bouncing off the fucking walls and chirping like a fucking SMOKE ALARM and i managed to chase it back out the door with my broom. unharmed but freaking the fuck out clearly. i put 2 loud ass bells and a rainbow clown collar on this fat bitch and sheâs still managing to catch LIVE ANIMALS SOMEHOW JUST TO RELEASE THEM INSIDE i donât know how shes doing it!!!!! fucking butterball!!! anyway the point is the chipmunk is fine

YOU GOTTA BE FUCKING KIDDING ME TUMBLR
So annoying. So GD annoying.
The World Health Organization report I highly recommend because there are so many conclusions that are shocking and yet completely obvious.
For example, being exposed to corporal punishment as a kid makes it more likely for a person to commit domestic violence against a partner. In places where corporal punishment is normal, people are more likely to think that rape and intimate partner violence are normal. Kids who are spanked are more likely to be violent with and to bully other kids.
Spanking is literally teaching a kid that violence is okay and normal and it affects the whole society.
It also talks about how corporal punishment affects the brain in its development. It changes the structure of the brain and slows the development of mental abilities. Kids who get spanked have much stronger hormonal responses to stress.
POINT OF NO RETURN!! CHILD NEAR DEATH!! PLEASE HELP!!
6-year-old Souad has been anemic since birth, and starvation and disease due to the IOF assault have caused her severe additional health complications. In September she fell unconscious and was admitted to the hospital. She has since been comatose and fluid is building up around her brain.
Medical staff have worked very hard to reduce the swelling. But despite their efforts, Souad's brain is now hemorrhaging (bleeding). The swelling has been too persistent, and the pressure is rapidly bursting the cells of her brain, causing bleeding. This will kill her. Little Souad is dying.
She needs to be evacuated outside of Gaza, but this is extremely expensive. However, in addition to the high cost of the medical evacuation, her family is also forced to pay high medical fees to the private hospital which is caring for her. It is the only facility in Gaza with the capacity to slow the deterioration of her condition, and these bills must be paid for her to live long enough for evacuation. We are now raising funds to both support Suadâs immediate life-sustaining care, AND eventual medical evacuation.
PLEASE HELP US #SaveSouad!!!
Please repost the GFM and tag #SaveSouad to spread the word. SHE DOESN'T HAVE MUCH TIME LEFT!!!

Jacob Anderson as Louis de Pointe du Lac Interview with the Vampire/The Vampire Lestat | S03E04 "The Devil's Road"
My sister just got back from West Virginia. She went to visit our grandmother that we haven't seen in 20 years because she's old and dying. After our dad died his family just kind of never spoke to us again and it's a bit of a sore spot, personally, but she went. Surprising news though! This 90 year old woman from West Virginia hates Donald Trump. Why? Because Trump owed my dad money. And she's never, ever let it go. No policy. No ideology. He owed my dad money so fuck him. Convinced all her girlfriends and book club not to vote for him.
In a way you might say Donald Trump owes me money. It's money I would have got when he died. The president owes me some money. And I will follow my in my mountain people whole bloodline vendetta feud heritage and hate him for that reason.

After ALL that time spent with western media going âwhat about the hostagesâ and âcivilians shouldnât be dragged into conflictâ you think theyâll say the same about the Lebanese civilians, specifically women and children that the Israelis are openly expressing desire to take hostage because they canât beat the Lebanese resistance through military action, or will they simply be âprisoners of warâďżźďżź

THE TICK THAT DREW THE MAP OF THE WEST June 28, 2026
So the longhorn was a garbage animal. Stringy, mean, half-feral, descended from Spanish cattle that had gone loose in the brush country for a couple centuries and bred for survival rather than meat. In Texas after the war it was worth maybe three or four dollars a head, because there were millions of them and nobody to eat them. The local market was Texans, and Texas was broke. Up in Chicago or New York the same animal was worth thirty, forty dollars, because the Union had spent four years eating its way through the eastern cattle supply and the cities were short on beef.
That spread is the whole engine of the cattle drive. You don't need a tick to explain why a man would walk a cow a thousand miles to multiply its value by ten. The arithmetic does it.
What the tick explains is the SHAPE.
Because the thing about the longhorn nobody in the romance mentions is that it was a carrier. Centuries in the brush had given it a shaky immune truce with Babesia bigemina, a protozoan that lived in its blood and rode around on a tick that dropped off into the grass wherever the herd went.
The longhorn itself looked fine. Walked fine, sold fine, butchered fine. But the cattle it walked past, the fat improved Midwestern stock that had never met the parasite, those animals would start pissing blood and die at a rate that touched nine in ten. The Texans, reasonably, refused to believe their healthy-looking cattle were doing it. They took it to the Supreme Court in 1877 and won, on the entirely correct observation that their cows weren't sick. The cows weren't sick. The cows were Typhoid Mary.
(The disease disappeared every winter, too, north of a certain latitude, which baffled everybody for thirty years until somebody worked out that the tick just froze to death up there, no vector, no disease, the whole thing seasonal in a way that made it look like a moral judgment on Texas cattle specifically. It wasn't anybody's leading hypothesis that an insect was committing the murders. The leading hypothesis for a while was that the longhorns were poisoning the grass.)
So now run the two facts together. The cow is worth ten times more up north. The cow kills every other cow it passes on the way up north. What do you get?
You get a line.
You get a bunch of lines, actually. Quarantine lines, drawn and redrawn by Missouri and Kansas legislatures and eventually by the federal government, declaring that Texas cattle could not cross at all, or could only cross in winter when the tick was dead, or could only cross by rail if they were going straight to slaughter and never touched dirt that a local cow might later stand on. Missouri shut its border. Farmers formed Vigilance Committees (which is a polite nineteenth-century way of saying armed men) and turned the herds back at gunpoint. Kansas banned Texas cattle outright in 1885. And every one of those legal and shotgun-enforced lines was a wall the drive had to find a gate in.
The gate was the railhead.
This is the part that rewires the map. The famous cattle town (Abilene, Dodge City, Wichita, Ellsworth, the whole gunfighter pantheon) is not a town that grew up around ranching or water or gold or a river crossing. It's a point where the trail coming up out of the quarantine zone touched a railroad that could take the cow east to the slaughterhouse without it walking through anybody's protected pasture.
Abilene gets invented basically from scratch in 1867 by a man named Joseph McCoy who looked at the map, found a spot on the Kansas Pacific that was far enough WEST that the trail in from Texas could swing around the settled farm country and its quarantine, and built stockyards there. The town is a loading dock. The cowboy at the end of the trail, in the saloon, shooting the place up: he is a longshoreman who has just finished a shift, and the shift was getting the cargo to the one point where it could legally change from hooves to wheels.
And the cargo had to keep moving west precisely because the tick kept the settled east closed. As Kansas farmers spread and the quarantine line marched west with them, the railhead had to march west too. Abilene to Ellsworth to Wichita to Dodge, each town flaring up and dying back as the line of legal infection-free transfer slid across the state. The towns weren't competing on amenities. They were competing on being the current solvent point in a chemistry problem about where a tick could and couldn't survive the trip.
(Dodge City lasts longest because it's furthest out, last to get caught by the advancing farms, sitting out where the quarantine couldn't reach it yet. Its whole mythological career (Wyatt Earp, Boot Hill, the Long Branch) is a few years long and happens because of an agricultural-settlement frontier creeping toward it at the speed of homesteading. When the farms arrive, the party's over. The party was always a function of the farms not having arrived.)
So the geography of the Wild West, which towns exist and why they're where they are and why they boom for five years and empty out and why the trail bends where it bends, is not topography and not destiny and not the romance of open range.
It's the intersection of a price differential and a quarantine map. The price differential said go north. The quarantine map, drawn by the tick, said you may only go north HERE, and HERE, and now not there anymore, here. The cow drew the route and the parasite drew the borders and the men with the guns were just enforcing a public-health regime they didn't know was a public-health regime.
And it all gets zeroed out, eventually, the same way these things always do, not by a hero but by a logistics upgrade. They build the Kansas City stockyards and the packing plants, and then the rail net gets dense enough that the cow doesn't have to walk to the train at all, the train comes to the cow. Refrigerated cars mean you slaughter in Chicago and ship the meat instead of the animal. The long drive, the trail town, the whole apparatus that existed only to get a tick-bearing animal across a quarantine line to a loading point, it just stops being necessary, and the gunfighter towns settle down into being ordinary Kansas, dry and flat and law-abiding, within about a decade of their own legend.
The cattle tick itself they finally beat in 1943, dipping every cow in the South in arsenic for forty years to break the lifecycle. Nobody made a movie about the dipping vats.
Same as it ever was.

Welp. Google's AI horseshit has arrived. And I'm not complying. They can pry my ID out of my cold dead hands. I will simply go elsewhere. Remember folks, DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR IDs. Do not comply. Resist, fight it, use other browsers or sources beyond youtube and google controlled services. Call them. Email them. Make noise. Fight back.
I've been using Google as my main mail service since 2006, and every single account or service I've ever signed up for was made with that address. For a long time I thought it'd be impossible to divorce myself from Google.
It took less than 5 minutes to switch to a ProtonMail account, less than 2 hours to download and/or offload every byte of data from my Google account, and less than 3 days to change every single account or service I've ever signed up for to the new address.
As of today, the only single one I have that's still tied to it is YouTube. It's the only thing I'd lose access to if I deleted my Google acount entirely.
They really, really want you to believe that it's a hassle to switch to a different email system. But it's not. Most websites and/or services allow you to change the email address associated with it.
I've been using Google for almost 2 decades and it only took a few days to move everything. It's not a painful sacrifice; it's an easy change that, frankly, has absolutely been worth it.
Proton Shoutout
You can and should switch to a free, encrypted Proton email account. You also get all of the below perks. For free. There is no trick. It is paid for by the people with paying plans. I am one of them. The (completely functional) free tier is there to entice you into getting a paid account with even more perks. (It worked on me.) But there's no penalty or pressure for staying with the free account.
Also get your stuff off the google drive and put it on Proton's drive. It is encrypted. Only you with your password can access it. Not even Proton can see what you put in there.
Switch everything away from Google. It's easy and it's important. Read above, click the link for Proton, download your gmail and switch.
Also, except for some few searches once every couple weeks, I just use Ecosia for every search and have been since 2019. And they plant treeeeees!

Hunger has become part of every single day, and even summer feels unbearable in the heat of a fragile shelter.
We are not asking for much. A simple meal, around 20⏠or even less, can change an entire day for a child.
