Fiction. Affects. Reality.
They may be fictional but that does not mean that they don't affect your irl life.
For example, my interest in Hannibal lead me to trying to learn Danish.
My interest in Transformers lead me to finally formulate a plot for my ocs.
Drawing fan art for fics is an example of fiction affecting reality.
You can write things that make you uncomfortable, if it soothes a part of your brain. It only becomes a problem when your audience finds it hot. Finds it sexy.

But that's how the movies treated it.
That's how the people treated it.
That's how fuckin M E N treated it.
But noooo, fictional ships doesn't affect reality. No, not at all.
This also goes to the folks who minor codes characters. Yeah. If I'm yapping about this side I'm yapping about the other.
If a character that is stated to be young but acts, looks, and gets treated like an adult, please, use your brain and fill in the details that they are a young adult. Young adults are FUCKIN dumb and stupid and ofc they gonna be acting like a kid sometimes. This period of their life they are maturing into the adult they wanna be.
This also goes for children characters. If they're a child leave them tf alone. How a person sees a child as sexual object will always fuckin disgust me and how anyone can write a fic and giggle about causing sexual harm to a child to their friends (something I have witnessed on a server believe it or not) will always haunt me.
Minor coding characters just causes the same issues. Yeah it can be a joke sometimes but you're giving pedophiles a reason to still be pedos.
Idk. I have not slept. This is a rant of sorts. I'm in the middle with all this stuff.
If you hate a ship, whether that be two characters you don't think should go together leave them alone. They don't care if it's canon.
If you project your head canons on someone else's fic or art and get upset with how they're portrayed that's on you. Everyone has different views of the ship.
If they are treating incest, sexual violence, pedophilia with the gravitas and wrongness that it is. (Providing warnings with every chapter or before the book even begins)
Leave. Them. Alone. They are probably doing it more for them, than you.
But if it is pedophilia, incest, and sexual violence/abuse and is treated like it doesn't matter and doesn't affect people that it is just a "interpretation of the ship" call their asses out. These things aren't toys. They aren't "dynamics" they aren't "kinks" they aren't interesting.
No one wants to be reminded of what they went through.
I know what Ao3 was founded on. I understand that some of us go through dark phases. But please. Please.
