The more I see stuff about the Tumblr Sexyman Polls, the more glad I'm not participating, because the way fans (not just Tenna fans, but Dungeon Meshi and Project Hail Mary fans regarding Senshi and Grace, respectively) are acting about this is annoying and toxic.

Fun propaganda and silly bantering is one thing, constantly attacking and putting down others for who they vote is another thing.

I don't care if the character isn't conventionally attractive, even for you. I don't care if the character doesn't fit your standards of sexyman. I don't care if you don't like that character in general, think they're overrated, find their fans annoying, or whatever. It's not excuse be a jerk.

Not only that, your not doing the character you love and want to win any favors.

Do you think your doing your blorbo any favors by attacking others for their preferred blorbos? Do you think you're not risking alienating potential fans from even wanting to check out the media your blorbo is in because of your behaviorm? Do think if your blorbo was real they would be happy seeing their fans tear each other apart over a silly fandom poll?

Yeah, that wouldn't be great wouldn't it?

At the end, it's okay to have fun, but still be a good sport. At the end of the day, like I've said, it's just a silly little fandom poll, not a place to act like hooligans over fictional characters.

Constructive criticism, from out of respect, is okay. Same goes with having a different interpretations/opinions of a character, based on what is shown to the audience. It brings interesting conversation and even fan content exploring it. If you don't like something, that's okay. If you have some criticism but you still like the media, that's also okay. We all don't have to agree with every opinion.; to each their own.

But it's another thing when you start to bullying individuals for not meeting your personal expectations. Or worse, to harass them.

Again, you are valid on having issues with how certain characters are treated within a media, but for the love of god, do not go and personally attack the writers over them. Especially if it's because they didn't pander to your headcanons.

Of course, be critical with how they write the character but never get to point you're outright harassing them.

That's more awful than a poorly written character.
