Lost Earring Necklaces
I really like crescent moon earrings, but I keep losing one of the earrings in each set. I bought some chains from the thrift store and turned the earrings into necklaces. I didn't expect to have so much trouble getting the earrings on the chain.
For the silver one, I was able to slip the middle of the chain through and tie a lark's head knot.
For the gold one, I didn't have a jump ring, so I made one out of the old earring back, then cut off the excess with a wire cutter.
Here are my supplies, except I didn't include the pliers. I wasn't expecting to need them.
Baby Quilt #3
Made a quick baby quilt. Didn't upcycle for once, but I'll figure out somewhere to use the scraps. First time doing flange binding, and I think I'll be doing more of that in the future. I wasn't very adventurous with my straight stitching technique but think I'll be ready for something more interesting for the next quilt.
Fabric from FabricsbyJo, pattern from same disappearing hourglass tutorial as the quilted purse, and binding using this flange tutorial.
Next up are some mends and tailoring that I probably won't post because they're not that interesting.
Quilted circular purse with adjustable bow straps
Made quilted squares using secondhand scraps and this tutorial, then cut them into circles, layered them to make external pockets, and made a purse. The external pockets are held together with hidden velcro strips, and the straps are two strips of fabric that can be ties and adjusted to different lengths. This is yet another late birthday present for a friend.

Tote bag made out of thrifted fabric
Made a tote bag in a day for my friend's birthday out of thrifted fabric (outside) and IKEA fabric that I bought in 2014 (inside)
Origami wedding bouquet
Made origami flowers for my wedding bouquet and centerpieces using this tutorial for the flowers (10x10in) and this tutorial for the buds (5x5in).
Handmade tie
Made a tie for my bridesman using this fabric and this tutorial, but the tie was really wide so I altered it to be skinnier. I made the origami flowers for the bridal party but will be posting more detailed pics eventually.
Lace dress neckline alteration
Changed a v-neck to a square neck on a thrifted lace dress that I bought for my rehearsal dinner. A project that didn't drag on for months for once.
Patchwork Pockets and Inner Thigh Mend
My jeans wore through in the thigh, so I removed the pockets and used the fabric to patch the worn parts. Then I used old jeans to quilt denim pockets and reattached them. I made enough HSTs for a few other patches, but I'm not sure whether I'll keep patching or call it a day.

Quilted tote bag made from thrifted sweatshirt and scraps
Made a tote bag out of a thrifted sweatshirt and scraps from a dress that I made two years ago. I bought the fabric and finished 90% of it last year, then waited 11 months to finish it. It was supposed to be for my friend's birthday last year, so now it's just in time for her next one.
Patchwork makeup bags
Made patchwork makeup bags out of secondhand and recycled materials to ask my BFFs to be my bridesmaids using this tutorial
Quilted jacket made of only secondhand materials
Quilted a jacket made out of all secondhand materials--fabric scraps and thread from baby blankets and a million other projects I never posted, batting from a dress form, lining from fabric I bought at a thrift store years ago and never used, toggles from the amazing, crafty, and generous @marjocarpenter / @marjoartstuff
All it took was 17 months to finish
Folk Art-Inspired Coat Hooks
Painted a $5 thrifted coat hook with some second-hand acrylic paint and sealed it with polyurethane
Sweater collar mend
Thrifted this sweater for $3 and immediately ripped the back of the collar when I washed it. There are probably better and prettier ways to mend this, but I just ironed on some interfacing and secured it with a few stitches.
Current works in progress:
Tons of origami roses for the wedding
Make up bags for my bridesmaids
Painting a thrifted coat hook with folk art inspired designs
Knitting a hat for my fiancé
Lots of mends for other people that I put off

Speedweve Sock Mend II
Every sock speaks bliss to me, fluttering from the autumn feet. - Emily Sockë
Made Another Poster Frame
Bought second hand poster board and wooden half dowels, used leftover wood stain and a saw blade, and stole some leftover Modge Podge from my mom. Put it all together to make a custom frame for the incredibly irregularly sized poster that I found in my parents' basement.
The (fake) mantle is still a work in progress.
