Holy moly, guys. This dress... I can't even. There are no words!! 😍💕😍 It's MARVELous!! #Repost @janemakesstuff ・・・ And the final 'Higher, further, faster!' dress i made to wear to the #CaptainMarvel opening night. A bit of a mishmash of comic and movie elements in the design (and I couldn't find the belt I'd initially intended to wear with it so... comic-style belt styling!). It's been a long time since I took something from concept to final product this quickly (like... A week 😅), and I'm pretty happy all things considered, though it's definitely a reminder of why I should always, always make a mock up. Some wins & thoughts: ✴️First time making my own piping (and using piping in a garment...let's just say I learned a lot) ✴️first time doing leather applique (and my machine tension kept forking up so it's a bit janky in places) ✴️was tempted to buy new materials for this, but kept to my resolution to really try hard to 'make it work' with stuff i have on hand for projects - all fabric and leather from @austincreativereuse ✴️need to do some sort of top-stitching on the bust style lines, they got completely lost in the final garment and I was really proud of that pattering (swipe to see more) ✴️ i didn't have time to do the understructure that would give this the 'hip pop' that i want on the silhouette, but I can add it ✴️ i initially planned to add hidden pockets at the bottom of the red panels but ran out of time to figure out how to do it cleanly... may add those as well. ✴️I'm also not the same shape as a dress form so I feel like it's a bit 'blah' here, but I will at Some Point get professional photos done!!
