so much fanfic can simply be described as "erotically fascinated with the sexual mechanisms of misogyny while being utterly repulsed by acknowledging women as the subjects of this violence"
like the whole "ohhh we just want a break from thinking about misogyny/I don't let you do that to her" thing falls apart if you look at the glee with which people use misogynistic language about men's bodies in a fanfic context and more troublingly than like, omegaverse nonsense is when people decide that it's fine and progressive, actually to apply misogynistic tropes to Feminine/Cross Dressing Men aka transmisogynizing their subjects whilst refusing to engage with transfemininity in earnest as a complete experience in its own right or doing the whole forced detransition/piv/breeding kink/daddy makes him his little girl thing about trans men it's like well okay I don't think patriarchy is fine as long as you do it to queer minorities. and like whatever if you're writing forced pregnancy rape kink stuff it's not like you're doing that to bring us forward as a society in the first place but then why the flinch towards progressivism when it's even briefly unpacked? "misogyny is fine and sexy if you do it to men but women are too good to experience it" seems to be the underlying mindset. it's not that I expect people to fully deprogram patriarchy from what fascinates them before they write fanfic, that's silly, especially bc you can write very interesting sexual dynamics in conversation with patriarchy, but it just reads as very disingenuous to want the misogyny without the women
