i'm sure this same post has been made a few times in the last decade or so but i love the tattoo theme in s03e01 and how it plays into the larger assault narrative framing scott’s turning. the bite made his body and his mind both into fraught territory, unknown and dangerous, tainted and outside of his control. he had to hide what had happened to him. he tried to ignore it, he tried to undo it. and over and over again he was shown that what this assault changed him in ways that couldn’t be changed back. he had to resign himself to being what he’d become, but he still tried to regain a degree of agency by attempting to protect others from going through the same thing, and when that couldn’t be done, he tried to spare them the worst of the aftermath, tried to do for isaac, boyd, erica and jackson what he wished somebody had done for him. meanwhile peter, derek and the argents at different turns and in different ways all threatened, violated and hurt him, coerced him and used him as a pawn in a war that scott never wanted any part of. now, trying again to reclaim his life, trying again to push past the life-shattering trauma and live a normal life, the tattoo disappearing is a reminder of what’s been done to him, and his insistence on making it stick shows where his priorities lay: his body may still not be quite his but he’s taking it back, and he’s more than willing to endure in order to do that.

Inflation has made me not understand prices anymore in the sense that I no longer understand what an appropriate price for any food is. Is a $5 bag of chips a good deal? Because that sounds fucking insane to 2018 me. And yet, that is how much they cost.

Once you start noticing how the incapacity to handle discomfort affects how people live their lives it's actually pretty shocking how it ruins pretty much every conceivable aspect of existence. Interpersonal relationships, romantic and platonic. Career and education opportunities. Your politics Your willingness to go anywhere. The kind of food you eat. The kind of art you expose yourself to and your ability to read it. It's never just one thing, it touches everything, and once you notice it it's like suddenly being able to see germs or something. Just this horrific catastrophe people look at you askance for screaming about. As I grow older and see what became of my friends and peers who could not learn to handle discomfort, the more I'm like. This is a genuine societal issue

would’ve liked to see the consequences of perfectionism failing control freak samira mohan with her patients this season rather than Robby Thinks This Is Proof She Sucks Because He’s Suicidal. samira so clearly has these rigid expectations for herself to be a perfect Doctor with the goal of saving the people that would’ve otherwise fallen through the cracks the way her father did and I think it would’ve been so much more interesting to see her get upset with herself because of that failure directly disproving that she can rely on that perfectionism forever and ever. it would’ve been nice to attach that to her gut instinct pittfest cowboy moments— to have her arc be about learning she has to balance between “I will be perfect” and “I can adapt.” plus then the perfectionism could be another thing that ties with her plans to go back to nj— another way to say it’s okay if I have to be flexible it’s okay if things have to change a little
