whenever i look into a historical monarch who doesn’t get talked about much and is just kind of a blank spot in my understanding of the historical narrative, 95% of the time what i find is pure white hot blistering capability. a pencil pusher for the ages. a 39 year reign with no more than three hours of sleep a night. there aren’t any good stories from his reign because he systematically caught and stopped all catastrophic good stories before they could start. you shrimply must respect it

you have permission to pick that 2 year old "abandoned" project back up. it's not mad at you for setting it aside. and maybe time and distance have helped ease or erase the things that made you put it down in the first place.

One day during the world cup I am going to open up a USMNT related media item (article, podcast, etc) and not get hit with a "Everyone on the team is fine except Roldan who should never ever see the field". One day people are gonna be normal about him. Please.

Not to keep talking on this subject but at some point it gets genuinely upsetting that I can't enjoy one of the best players on my childhood team playing for one of my national teams, because everyone irrationally hates him for no fucking reason. He isn't iconic on the mnt, but he plays well! He's fine! Yet all the talk about him from literally anyone who isn't from Seattle or the big journalists (Soccerwise, the athletic/the guardian) is that he should quit soccer because he's terrible. And I have eyes!! He's not!! It legitimately makes it hard for me to engage with usmnt content bc I'm just waiting for the hate train to start. Not to mention that this then gets pushed out to Seattle, where idiots will act like we're not one of the top teams in mls/concacaf.

And then these same people complain about how the usmnt doesn't have enough fans. Idk, maybe it's that you think its funny to say that Roldan slept his way onto the team? That anyone who likes MLS or American soccer is an idiot who should just shut up? The literal lack of any women and the fact that most of the soccer space could pass the paper bag test? The constant hatred and negativity towards players for no reason a lot of the time? Gosh I can't imagine why someone would be turned off by that!

this game was so much. brazil ending the game with only nine players. four brazilian coaches/staff ejected. over a hundred minutes of play by the end and then after that? two more players get red cards. 10 yellow cards. security coming out to guard the refs. and michelle cooper was playing right back for some reason. god i love women's sports.
