a lot of people really seem to think that patriotism and nationalism are natural, because of in-group bias. but the fact that many people choose their nation state as their ingroup, instead of their class, is entirely a product of ideology. having you view your country as your in-group instead of the global proletariat is very convenient for the capitalist class, which wants our support and bodies for its imperialist wars. communists choose the proletariat as our in-group though, which is why you see us celebrating and working for the defeat of "our" capitalist nations
