Ok I am curious, because i have seen several people talking about this now and I have been surprised at their interpretations
Was the Oath of Fëanor fulfilled?
yes, his kin reclaimed the Silmarils that were able to be reclaimed
no, because Eärendil's Silmaril means the Oath is forever unfulfillable
no, because Maedhros and Maglor couldn't hold on to their Silmarils at the end
Practicing painting people and pretty proud of this little Maedhros study
something I think some people don't seem to grasp...
you cannot moralize to me about the Feanorians. it's not going to work. "ooohhh but did you know they kinslayed? but what about celegorm's cruel servants? but what about-"
I know, okay? I know about the Kinslayings. lmao. who the hell doesn't know about those in this fandom.
you seem to be under the impression that I like the Feanorians because of some mistaken belief that they are pure little angels...
maybe stop and consider the fact that I like them because they are not.

I’m 99% sure he had at least a couple tattoos

Picked up the Silm again and felt compelled to draw this
[ID: A drawing of Maedhros based on that one behind the scenes photo of Hayden Christensen sitting down with the world's most haunted expression. Maedhros has the same look on his face, as well as red hair, dark robes, a gold prosthesis, and flames burning behind him. End ID.]
When Fëanor says to the Valar,
If I must break [the Silmarils] I shall break my heart, and I shall be slain; first of all the Eldar in Aman
the wording is important: not might break, or might be slain, but shall break, and shall be slain. He is expressing his certainty that breaking the Silmarils will kill him.
And I know that some people are a little hesitant to take Fëanor’s word on this at face value, but the very next spoken line in the text is Mandos (!!!) saying, “Not the first.”
Mandos is not disputing the part of Fëanor’s statement where he says that breaking the Silmarils will kill him — just the fact that Fëanor would then be the first in Aman to be slain, considering that Finwë —unknown to Fëanor— had just been killed at Formenos by Melkor.
Anyways, I really don’t think that Fëanor’s refusal to break the Silmarils / restore the Trees was out of greed for the Silmarils’ beauty or light or power. I think he declined to kill himself for the sake of re-lighting the Trees, which — judging both by the Elves’ survival for years uncounted at Cuivienen and the fact that Valinor & the Valar didn’t cease to exist after the Trees were destroyed— were not really crucial to anyone’s survival.
The Sentence of the Valar
Before the radiant decree of the Valar, Fëanor receives his banishment from Tirion, defiant beneath the fading light of the city.

My friend asked me to draw Maedhros for her, this is my first commission, and I’d love to do more!

For @softie-draws who requested ace Maedhros
And an aroace one because I wanted to.
If you saw this posted and then disappear shhh I had to fix a mistake.
My design for him is so inconsistent. Whatever, this one is post-Angband but pre-Nirnaeth probably.
Pfp versions below, pride reqs now closed.
Feanorian lineups are apparently a rite of passage for silm artists, so I wanted to include Feanor and Nerdanel but they're on honeymoon.
Caranthir, harshest of the sons of Fëanor
Which son of Fëanor would you rather be stuck on an island with?
Maedhros
Maglor
Celegorm
Curufin
Caranthir
Amrod/Amras
i think maglor was hard to rouse to anger or wrath but was also hard to calm down from anger , and hard to earn his forgiveness .

The Noldor should use "craftless behaviour" to talk about someone who's being the equivalent of a modern day internet troll. Someone writes slandering gossip about Finwë in Tirion's gossip rag? That's a craftless behaviour!
