Let me describe to you the life of my torn-apart family amidst the sprawling camps, scattered here and there. Among the fabrics in the shape of tents, pain resides in every corner of this place, and anguish looms over it. Under a relentless sun and a night cold that steals the last bit of warmth from your body... The remnants of my family live in a place that is almost an exile for human life as we know it. There is no home to shelter them from the winter cold, no trees to bear fruit or provide shade, and no water to quench their thirst. There is a torn tent, damp firewood, and children who dream...
What crime did my family commit to reach this level of misery? Their simple dreams or their memories? Whatever the reason, it happened, and poverty settled in every corner of their tents, and misery etched itself on their faces. The innocent hands of our children have become rough and calloused like those of a ninety-year-old man.
My mother and sisters spend their time lighting fires with great effort until their eyes fill with tears, washing clothes, and sewing holes in the tent in their spare time. I used to think that punishment in prison was the harshest form of torture, but I quickly changed my mind when I saw the suffering and agony of my family! Winds take you right and left, and you spend your day tightening the tent stakes that often let you down.
You sleep wishing you could keep one eye open for fear of the treachery of rodents that might attack. It's no wonder you wake up to find yourself floating above your children's tattered clothes and the firewood you spent ten days collecting.
