If you've been following Wesal's posts (@shahdgazza) or have been receiving the updates from the fundraiser I created for Farah, then you will know that she hasn't been doing well.

Farah requires daily potassium supplements due to kidney problems, supplements that have not been available lately. So Wesal has had to ration the ones she could get her hands on and buy as much potassium-rich food as she could find, which hasn't been sufficient. Potassium deficiency is extremely dangerous and can lead to cardiac arrest.

Recently, the family has also been dealing with fleas that bite, causing wounds that Farah's bad health couldn't handle. In particular, the wounds on her legs became open sores with bacterial infection.

Today Wesal tells me she's had to take Farah to hospital.

She told me:

"I went to the hospital to have the inflamed layer of the ulcers peeled off. Farah's body became severely inflamed, and the doctors decided that the accumulated bacterial nodules needed to be cleaned. The ulcer was very painful to scrape, but I have to treat my child. Her blood pressure was low, 90/45. My daughter almost died today. I paid $300 to the private clinic."

They also had to buy antibiotics to treat the infection. Today they spent the whole day in the hospital, going from one department to the next. As Farah is autistic, this was very confusing and distressing for her, and for her parents as well, who feel helpless.

In addition to 15-year-old Nour’s ongoing health issues, Nour’s sister Noha recently developed a severe stomach ulcer due to an infection induced by drinking unsanitary water. This ulcer is causing Noha extreme pain and digestive issues, and if it is not treated very soon, will lead to internal bleeding. This ulcer has gone untreated in order to allot more funds for Nour’s ongoing nebulizer treatments, but it has progressed to the point of literally debilitating pain and serious complications. Let’s raise the cost of treatment ASAP so Nour can continue nebulizer treatments and Noha can live her life again!!
